You can do the pre download, prep thing but its not a must that you take windows 10.

I honestly didn't want to bother with it because i was cool with Windows 8 myself, but its been just fine for me.

Only thing not working is NBA 2k14 pc, which i've yet to look into but nothing else is giving me a problem at all.

I think I know the reason you mention, cause I read something about that too. If that info actually is true, I really won't wanna get Windows 10 then.

Somehow I think that was why they gave Windows 10 away for free, even to people who didn't have legal copies of Windows 8 or 7.

That's EXACTLY why they are giving it away for free.

                Re: Windows 10

I love windows 10 so far. My laptop runs so much better now and I like the layout a lot more than windows 8. I don't really game on pc much and if I do I purchase the games so this recent info that came out isn't really a concern for me.

I don't know why people are not just posting the issue. It's all over the place now.

Something that can't be discussed on OS.

All I'm gonna say is if you're worried about emulators...don't be. I know there's more to it than that but that's as far as it needs to go for me. PM me if you need more details.

It's EULA stuff because they combined things with Xbox and that's been standard language on that platform for some time. Let us know when they actually do anything as nefarious as headlines suggest though.

It's not like it's piracy discussion to talk about piracy prevention, lol. Not seeing the taboo with that.

Reddit (even a small part of it) defending MS? Now that's something I thought I'd never see.

You have a point. I just thought it might lead to trouble if we got into specifics.

Well, my epilogue is that despite acting like it was DL W10, it didn't. The 25+ important updates for W7 went through and a search for KB3035583 (the Windows 10 DL file) was not to be found in the updates list. So why did it indicate it was DL'ing W10? The little white icon is no longer to be found either. Weird.

The best way to download Windows 10 is this:

This is how I did it in the office.

                                Re: Windows 10

An interesting business read by The Motley Fool regarding how Win10 launch is currently going for Microsoft and what investors will be looking into, for its success.

Windows 10 claimed nearly 5% of PC operating systems worldwide, with 53 million downloads in just three weeks. This gives Windows 10 a larger market share than Windows 8, Windows Vista, Mac OS X 10.10, and Linux. However, Microsoft still has a long way to go to reduce fragmentation across the Windows market.

Windows 7 still accounts for 53.5% of the PC market, Windows 8/8.1 controls 17.5%, and 9.7% of users are still clinging onto XP. Windows 7 has been very resilient, with its percentage of users remaining unchanged for the week. Windows 8.1's share fell the fastest, ceding more than one percentage point to Windows 10.

According to Gartner's estimates, 933 million new PCs will be shipped worldwide between 2015 and 2017. If Microsoft can maintain its 90% share of the PC market, we can assume that 840 million devices worldwide will run Windows 10 by the end of 2017, since new Windows PCs will come with Windows 10 pre-installed. Microsoft claims that various versions of Windows are installed on 1.5 billion PCs worldwide. If just over 10% of those older machines are upgraded to Windows 10, the OS could easily cross the one billion mark in three years.
