Yeah I figured this was where you were going.

Definitely was a question at some point for me too. Once we saw the zombie girl early in episode one, and no one else knew what was happening, I figured it meant people were always infected.

Now why and when did that happen? Who knows. I don't think Kirkman really does either and he doesn't seem to care because he doesn't think it matters in the story. I tend to agree with him. But it won't stop any of us from asking.

A simple explanation for the "we are all infected" debate would be that right now you would assume people like Calvin have caught the virus that they are all afraid of. Someone dies naturally and gets up "oh he had the virus".

The revelation to Crew Atlanta was that every single person on earth is infected. There is no avoiding it. You have it. You will be a zombie when you die no matter what.

Based on the pic I'd say it's good

One question I have that I forgot to ask about the premiere, I may have misunderstood, but the kid from the school who had his knife confiscated, how did he know? He mentioned reports from multiple cities and the mom/teacher said if it was important it would be all over the news. I may not be remembering correctly but if there already were reports from multiple cities, why did they have no idea what the heroin addict son was talking about when describing his ordeal in the crackhouse temple?

Mom teacher was acting like there's no big deal in response to the media reports, so whatever outbreak they were talking about was already known. How'd the kid know about the reports and no one else did?

My guess is that the kid was getting information from Reddit/Conspiracy type sources. The implication is that the info is out there, but the government/media was keeping it under wraps to reduce paranoia, maybe?

              That's my assumption as well.

I think you have to assume the news is very new when the series opens. Something happened in the East. You live in LA and you might figure it doesn't affect you because the government says it's no big deal.

Think about the real story of the guy who ate someone's face in Florida. Definitely wasn't any panic in New York about it. We just figured the guy was crazy and even if we joked he was a zombie, we all kind of shrugged.

Add the above to the fact that your source is a drug addict who just finished shooting up, the authorities aren't going to take your story seriously. Family has probably been through his **** way too many times (and we know this because his sister basically says it when she suggests they give up on him).

It's not surprising that it takes the person least around the kid to consider his story as plausible. He doesn't have a wall built up to block out the nonsense, which tends to happen when dealing with an addict in the family.

Exactly. News trickles. I wouldn't be so sure until I saw it for myself, either. Of course, zombies are such a popular thing these days that I assume it would travel quicker and people wouldn't be so foolish.

But we are talking about the general population.

Finally watched the second episode and one thing I like is how tough these zombies are.

Kirkman talked about how most of the walkers in Walking Dead were already decaying so they had weaker flesh. But these in Fear are fresh and strong. Adds a new element.

Anyone that survived this was tough. Some new credit to the originals in TWD.

                          It's a trade off.

Early on = fresher & stronger zombies but less of them.

Later on = decaying & weaker zombies but tons more.

                          Pick your poison heh.

Really liking this so far. The characters in The Walking Dead have been so poorly written (IMO), so I'm genuinely excited for fresh character development in this series.

                              While I love everything zombie...

If you are making a movie/show about zombies.....set anywhere from 2010 on(I'm being WAY generous here)
WHY THE **** DON'T the characters realize that someone who gets shot 20 times and keeps coming or gets up after getting(insert certain death incident that doesn't involve a head shot or decapitation here) is a ****ing zombie?
We've only been watching it since 1932.
Stop having them say "what's going on here"?(props to Tobias I must admit though)

Because in the Walking Dead world zombies don't exist. The word zombie has never been used, ever. They are entirely unfamiliar with them.
