Re: Fear The Walking Dead (Season 1)

I still haven't finished last season of TwD, but i'm more interested in watching this that the main series. Especially since it won't have ties to the comic. So i won't feel all jilted they got a character wrong or something. To slowly (or quickly) watch the descent into madness? Can't wait.

Hell yeah I'm excited. A TWD appetizer before actual TWD. Sold.

Could have a chance to be great. See what TWD did right, what it did wrong, and build off that. Plus, just getting a different region's/people's perspective of the whole situation is great. You don't get to see another side or explanation of a TV series often.

As much of a TWD guy I am, both the comics and show, this should be a fun ride getting a very different perspective on the ZA.

As bad as I wanted to convince myself that this was going to be a waste of time...jesus, they roped me in with that trailer.

And I think Cliff Curtis is a great actor. Damn you Robert Kirkman.

Is that the dad? His face seems punchable. Lol

I like the focus on the start of the outbreak. My wife got me in to TWD so I missed/skimmed the first few episodes so this will be a nice fresh start at the beginning.

Re: Fear The Walking Dead (Season 1)

I'm really looking forward to this spin-off.
Frankly, I ditched TWD mid-way through season 4.
All said, I only really liked Season 1.
But reading that FtWD will only be 6 episodes in season 1 has me excited.
That's why S1 worked so well for Walking Dead.

I still wonder how much better that show would be if it was produced by HBO.
I'd love it if they gave them a shot and we had two shows, running simultaneously, but through a different lens.

Honestly, the only thing that being on HBO would benefit would be the allowance of a certain character from the comics being accurate.

                          I'm not sure.
I've watched shows from both AMC and HBO and in my opinion, the production, writing and acting is far superior on HBO compared to anything AMC has put out.

After Season 1, I found myself rooting for the death of almost every one of the characters on the Walking Dead. Darryl - and especially his brother Merl - were the only characters I liked.

I cannot stomach Rick at all. The actor is terrible and his character is just as bad.
I can't help but wonder how much better he'd be if a good actor and good writers were driving his character.
At the very least, I'm sure HBO would have picked someone who didn't have to tilt his head and stand 2" away from the person he was speaking with in every scene.
And for the love of God, can someone please tell him that cops don't hold guns cocked down on an angle???
I thought he was a cop, not a gangbanger.

I mean, HBO is great, but Breaking Bad and Mad Men are widely considered 2 of the best dramas of all time.

Sounds like the show just wasn't for you, rather than anything that would have been done differently on HBO.

'Fear' turns L.A. into a shadow of its usual self - LA Times

New undead horror series "Fear the Walking Dead" may take place in the brief, pre-apocalypse glow of Los Angeles, but don't expect this new walker horde to be made of sun-kissed cheeks in overpriced tank tops shambling down the streets of Beverly Hills.

I read this in the paper on Friday, pretty good little writeup offering some insight.
