Re: Cord cutting
DirecTV Now is going up again for people who signed up early.
In May it's going up another $10/month and they are only offering new customers a choice of (2) packages.
I looked at the comparison tool and man if I'm a new customer I would probably consider a different company. I reached out and left them a detailed thought on their product and where it's going and how my cable provider can do better than them now as far as packaging and cost.
$50/mo. is starting to get up there for me.
Anyways they gave me a bunch of company generated responses and then offered me $10 off for three months and wanted me to reach back out to them so "they don't lose me as a customer."
I told the lady hey, "I'm not looking for a handout I just think you need to know how the packaging and price hike looks to the average person who uses your service as an alternative to satellite/cable because it's cheaper, but quality."
Just thought I would bring it up in-case any subscribers missed it.Comment

I so want out of my DirecTV deal and cut the cord but locked into it I'm afraid until the ETF becomes a bit more manageable.
I'm trying to find an out but I just don't know if I have one lol....Patrick Mahomes > GodComment

I'm using a free trial for Vue now and will do the same for YT and Hulu Live just to explore options. The problem with Vue is we are adding a Roku TV to the new room I'm working on and I don't think there's an app on there.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
Yeah It's the "Go Big Package."
I'm looking at other options now, but honestly even at $50 DirecTV Now is a pretty good deal, but going forward they are dropping A LOT of channels. If you didn't get in early the Go Big package isn't even available. They are cutting Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, etc. with the two new packages.

That's what I meant...I have DirecTV.Patrick Mahomes > GodComment

Re: Cord cutting
Also the more I look at streaming services, man YouTube TV is appealing...has everything I want plus local channels for baseball and football and what amounts to a endless DVR for free unless I'm reading that wrong lol.Patrick Mahomes > GodComment

Re: Cord cutting
I'm still under the Go Big package with the original pricing at release.
I'm sure another price increase is coming.
Once that happens, I'll probably look at combining Youtube TV and Philo. Between both, you cover most of the networks and much more than the new DTVNow.Comment

I couldnt believe the prices for packages... I have the Just Right (I think) 85+ channels for $55... This package in the new prices is over $100! I couldnt believe it.
And I have no idea how I have my current package for $55... But I'm getting close to start looking for something else.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

Re: Cord cutting
I was able to get the $10 off for 3 months with DTVN today by saying I was going to cancel. I will stick with it at least that long and then re-evaluate. I can't switch right now because of hockey playoffs and they are the only one with NHL Network. My luck would be I would switch to either YTTV or Vue and all of the Pens games would be on NHL Network...MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
NBA: Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic

Re: Cord cutting
Between like Hulu, PlayStation vue and YouTube tv I think YouTube tv is the best. Hulu if you record something and I like always do never get to watch any thing live you have to watch like ads and Playstaion Vue I liked the set up but I found the picture was not that good. YouTube TV has just about ever station I would like out side of Nick and its Picture is much better than Vue. I was really close to going YouTube tv a few months ago but stayed with comcast only because I was able to get phone with them to. I was paying like 160 for tv/internet with comcast and it had just went up to 180 and was about to go up to like 197. I was paying like 50 with Verizon for phone and that was with a flip phone to lol. So between tv/internet/phone I was paying like 210 and had just gotten up to 230. I was trying to get my internet/tv down to like 160 again. The only deal I could get with out phone was like 190. I was able to get 2 years with internet/tv at 142 and I am only paying 8 for phone. So I am paying 150 now for all 3 instead of the like 210 I was paying. If I had went with youtube tv I would have been paying like 137 for internet and youtube+ 50 for phone so like 187 for all 3 instead of the now 150 so I am saving like 27 a month by sticking with comcast compared to going to youtube tv.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
We are thisssss clossseee to cutting that cord. After giving a go with all the streaming services, Youtubetv is the one. First off, it offers all of our local podunk rural channels (this wasn't available too long ago), it has the MLB Channel, its DVR and suggested shows features are vast and easily navigated, and the picture is impressively sharp.
$40 dollars a month will be a $90 per month savings over our Dish subscription. The only thing is we won't have is that easy access to Rockies games, but there are alternatives.
I am quite impressed by how far these streaming services have come in a short period of time.Comment
