I’ve been very happy with Sling with the regular NHL season over with. I’m getting all the playoff games on TBS/TNT/TruTV and ESPN, plus I added the MLB.tv package to be able to watch all the league games as an out-of-town fan. NFL, NHL, MLB and NBA league networks which are my go-to to throw on at any time. No CBS, but got the Paramount+ login for that. Unfortunately, this Fox new streamer will probably affect those offerings on it. NFL season might be a bit dicey. Will have to reevaluate around then.

Definitely not going to be good news, lol. I’m sure they’ll pull their channels or increase their asking price from current streamers (who may or may not pony up), making everything worse for everyone again.

For me, I have to re-evaluate come fall. After checking, I don't have access to Fox Sports anymore. I just have ESPN3 for now and have the TNT workaround for now. I don't really want to go back to YouTubeTV. In theory, this is just for me to watch sports. My wife and daughter could care less about watching TV. I wouldn't be comfortable doing it just for meComment

So, $29.99 for ESPN Unlimited, and $$11.99 select plan. The Select Plan seems to be the current ESPN+ plan
Still seems pricy if you wanted individual services. That's $30 for ESPN, Fox One is likely around same price, Paramount+ $13(for CBS), Peacock Premium at $25, likely need Amazon Prime. That's not counting TNT and CW. That's likely over $100 a month to cover most sports, so you're still better off getting something like YTTV/Sling/Fubo/Hulu+.Last edited by illwill10; 05-13-2025, 12:50 PM.Comment

What do you guys think about In-door Antennas?
I was thinking about investing in an indoor antenna. If I can have the ability to pick up the local broadcast channels at a good viewing quality, I'd be happy. I live within a good range from the nearest Broadcast Tower. If that could work for me, I would be situated with watching the Eagles. I still have accesse to ESPN3 for some reason. So, I just need to figure something out for NBC PhillyComment

In theory, I just need Fox, ESPN , and Peacock(+NBC PHILLY). If I get the apps, that's $90 a month. So, I'm still better off getting YTTV or Fubo. My other option is doing the In Door/Digital Antenna route to get the local channels. But, still would need ESPN and Peacock, so I'm still paying $70 a month. At this point, I'm mostly just concerned about Basketball and watching the Sixers. So, I could just get the Digital Antenna and Peacock. Hopefully after the Phillies season is over, the Peacock + NBC Philly package goes on sale

Similar boat, I'm putting together Fanduel for local sports ($20), Fox One for their stuff but mainly for BTN ($20), and then ESPN Unlimited ($30), so I'd be up to $70 and still not have TNT sports and whatever else, I've got OTA DVR, but sometimes that screws up. Plus you gotta deal with NFL Network, Amazon Prime, Netflix sports. It's like the best option is to subscribe and cancel constantly, but that just seems annoying (this may post twice, I'm getting weird errors)Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Besides that, my main Priority is NBC Philly. The cheapest route is the Peacock Premium package for $40. That'll cover the NBC NBA games and SNF games. My hope is that Peacock Premium goes on discount around Black Friday and NBC Philly goes on sale after Phillies season is done. Hopefully with the Flyers being perennial losers and Sixers being a disfunctional mess, that the NBC Philly package goes on sale between October and March.👍 1Comment

Probably gets resolved tomorrow. But, this was one of my worries. With ESPN and Fox having dedicated apps now, I wouldn't be surprised if the current cable-replacement services gets reduced access to certain content.
Fubo seems like a better option than YTTV since Fubo will have ESPN Unlimited included.

Something I was able to do, was casting a sports free preview to the TV and watching full games. I know TNT and Fox apps offer limited 10 minute previews on the phone. If you cast the preview directly to the TV(not a dedicated TV app), the TV can't detect the timer. So unless you disconnect the cast, you can watch a full game. if thats the case, I'll be good with watching local NFL games. I have CBS with Paramount and I can cast Fox previews to the TV

That's so wonderfully creative. Props.Comment

It's something I noticed a few years ago. I had casted a free preview of a TNT game on our former old TV and it never shut off. It works the same on newer smart TVs. As long as you're casting directly to the TV/device and not a dedicated TV app, the TV cast won't recognize that it's a preview unless you interrupt the cast. As far as I know TNT and Fox does free limited previews of live sports. I have to test it again soon for Fox games when there is a college game on.
If that's the case, I'm good for watching watching the Eagles since I'll have the free preview trick for Fox, Paramount Plus/CBS, ESPN3, and Prime Video. I just need to figure out NBC Philly.
