NBC Philadelphia is finally coming to Peacock. A day prior to Opening Day. The only thing is that it's an add-on. It'll be an additional $24.95 a month. I'm only concerned about the Sixers and they're not worth an additional $24.95 a month lol. If NBC Philly also covered the Eagles games, I would definitely be interested. Maybe I'll see later this year if Peacock has a big sale.

What's the difference between NBC Philly and Fanduel Sports? My building recently canceled cable and I'm looking at $19.99 a month to get all Detroit sports (minus the lions of course), or $189 a year, still mulling my options, there's also a seasonal option for $129, trying to figure all this out is annoyingWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

From what it looks like, it's pretty similar. FanDuel Sports isn’t available around the Tri-state area. NBC Philadelphia covers it. It just seems like it is a lot more expensive. The $25 a month add-on on its self is $300 a year and that's not counting the Peacock subscription. It it was a $9.99 a month add on, it'll be a different story.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
The NBC Sports Philly one is more expensive than their other locales… salty
The Philly teams suck right now anyway, lol. Phils incoming to ease some of the pain around here, oh boy. 25 bucks in the dog days of summer. Can’t even get a dog for a buck anymore. Riddle me that.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Cord cutting
I was telling a work friend that when I shut down YTTV a couple of months ago that if NBC Philly came to Peacock, I would subscribe at least until the end of Sixers season. But, with the Sixers going off the rails and Phillies not having a ton of hype as previous years, I don't have any desire to pay for that subscription
Like I said, I'm only concerned about the Sixers. I don't really want to re-sign up for YTTV again. I just want to cover the Sixers and Eagles. If I had a family member with cable, I could just mooch off them lolComment

Re: Cord cutting
Yeah I’m with YTTV through the end of the month. After that, I think I’ll downgrade to Sling ($45 plus $12 or something for sports add-on) so saving about $20 and getting MLB and NHL Network back in the rotation.
Sling doesn’t offer CBS, but I get that through a friend’s Paramount+ login. Only need CBS for football Sunday’s (and it’s usually on RedZone anyway) and the one TV show I actually watch, Survivor. It’s worth the trade off of getting channels I watch regularly (NFL, MLB, NHL Networks) even if Paramount+ cracks down on sharing.
At the end of the day, it’ll be about the same for Sling + NBC Philly add-on to Peacock. At the moment, I’m skipping out on Phillies (I’m a Reds fan anyway) and probably the last month of the Flyers season so I’ll save a bit while missing nothing of importance to me until fall when hockey starts up again.
So it didn’t exactly solve any problems or make it cheaper without some changing up, but did open up some new options/combos depending on your appetite.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

It just leaves Fox Sports. I feel like eventually Fox Sports is going to pair with some type of Streaming package. I would pay for a Warners Bro package that included Fox, Fox Sports, Fox News etc.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
With Fox and ESPN launching a DTC service among the biggest trends in 2025. The dedicated sports streaming bundles could spell the end of the pay-TV business model.
As I expected Fox(and ESPN) are releasing standalone streaming services later this year. With the Venu Sports streaming service being scrapped due to antitrust concerns, it does make sense that they make their own streaming services. Only thing that I didn't like about ESPN Plus is that it didn't cover all ESPN games, just ESPN + games. That would solve most of my interests. Fox Sports, Paramount + for CBS covers most of Eagles games for me. I typically don't watch SNF or MNF. I would be interested in a ESPN streaming service if it included the full ESPN experience. Those all would cover most of College Football as well
It would all come down to total cost. The ultimate goal would be save at least $20 a month compared to YTTV or Hulu + Live TV. If the Fox streaming service is between $9.99 to $14.99, that would be perfect. If ESPN + is $11.99, than I expect a full fledged ESPN service to be around $14.99-19.99. I don't really count Paramount Plus for me because we always get Wal-Mart +. Only thing that ruins it for me is the Peacock +NBC Philly being close to $40. The ideal range is $50-60 a month total. Anything $70+ for 3-4 streaming services, I'm better off going back to YTTV.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
What is "full fledged ESPN"? Everything on ESPN/ESPN 2/ESPN News etc? Because if ESPN + is $11.99 I wouldn't expect all of ESPN to be just 8 bucks more.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
i wouldn't be surprised if it was $30-40 a month. I'm mostly just talking about anything that would be locally broadcasted. So, MNF, main ESPN NBA game, college games. It's a pipe dream to think anything under $30.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
I would just really need the ESPN streaming service and Peaccock + NBC Philly to cover Sixers and Eagles. That's all I really care about. It still comes down to price. If the Peacock + NBC Philly is $40 and I'd imagine that ESPN would be at least 40 a month. that's about $80, which means I'm still better off getting YTTV of Hulu. I'm just hoping there are deals around Black Friday for PeacockComment

Re: Cord cutting
I hope not. I thought ESPN was trending downwards, maybe that’s why they need to throw money at another major thing. I wonder how NFLN does. I would really prefer it wasn’t under the ESPN umbrella. I watch the league networks so I don’t have to watch ESPN, lol.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I'm curious on the pricing. As I said before, I stopped my YouTubeTV in January. But, I still have acess to ESPN3, Fox Sports, and have a workaround for TNT. So, inn theory I don't need the new Fox and ESPN services. But, I don't want to bank on those services still working come fall. I already have access to Paramount+ & CBS. So, In theory I just need Peacock plus NBC PhillyComment
