    Re: Cord cutting

To be clear, I was calling to cancel service, which I have had with Charter for about 5 years, and had their internet for close to 10 years. They first offered a reduced rate on the package I have, minus the movie channels. I passed.

It waster a bit they suggested this, as something they do not advertise, and you can't find anywhere. Supposedly it is based on loyalty, and such and such. My first inclination was to say no to this, too, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this was the deal I really wanted.

They do offer a deal with just the locals, but that is just $2 a month less. And really, I get great reception for all my locals, so I didn't need that at all.

I offer not guarantees on what they will offer you. I have also been super reliable on paying bills and such. Also, I was very clear that I was cutting cable, not switching to a competitor.

But yeah, I went from 100% cutting cable to taking this deal and feeling really good about it. I was surprised that they really did let me pick any channels, except Fox Sports Midwest. Getting AMC, FX, and USA were pretty critical, for me. Getting ESPN keeps me in the loop for ESPN3, and Kansas airs every game not on ESPN proper on ESPN3.

The real bummer is is not being able to get FSMW. Not only does that cost me the Blues, but FSMW started airing Pacers and Grizzlies games when the Blues were off. Not so much a fan of those teams, but it was nice to get more NBA.

And this deal makes it unlikely that I will pay for a live TV service just to get it. We really need the pro leagues to lift the local blackout rules for when we purchase their game passes. Maybe offer a higher their that allows local teams.

I'm thinking about canceling PSVue because of numerous issues I've had. I've spent what feels like more time in support than actually using the product. Anyway, I'm looking at Sling TV as they have better channels for less cost which seems like a slam dunk. But it seems like Sling TV during sports has less FPS, has anyone noticed that? I've noticed a bit of lag but I'm not sure if that's just my eyes tonight or if other people see that too.

I havent tried sling yet, but Im about to becasue they have NHL network.
As far as psVue goes. Ive had it for a year now, and all the sports look and run great on it, except for like the only sport I watch, which is hockey.

Framerate seems liek it cant keep up with the side to side pace, and the resolution is never as good.
This could all be my wireless isp connection tho

What kind of issues have you had?
I have had VUE now for 3 months and have not had one issue at all, none.
I couldn't be happier with it. Just wondering what kind of issues you are having.
My frame rate never slips and I cant believe how good it has been for me.

            so I looked into SlingTV.

            I wont be getting that.
            They dont carry NESN.

Seems as though the only 2 that carry NESN are YoutubeTv and psVue.

Youtubetv is out becasue you can only watch it on the TV through a chromecast.

So- looks like Im staying with Vue until the cable company gets in my area.

Was happy to see FOX was added in the past couple days to my psVue Boston area.
              Pretty impressive.

4 7 and fox for locals. now.
              plus NESN.
I really dont see how anyone in the Massachusetts area wouldnt use ps Vue now over anything else.

Only thing they are missing from me is PBS and NHL network. But those arent absolute gamebreakers.

BTW - I can't find it now but I know I read somewhere that YouTube TV will have apps soon for consoles and the like. I recently cut the cord of Dish and got YTtv and have been really happy with it.

I got a Chromecast for all my tvs to use it for now. They also give you a free chromecast when you sign up and pay for first month. I like chromecast cause you can use it for many other things as well.

                      Re: Cord cutting

I jumped on the PSVue bandwagon awhile back. I like it because it cost significantly cheaper. The only issues I have are that it delays behind the actual broadcast by a couple of seconds and the framerate kills me sometimes for sports. I watch it on my FireTV (not the stick) and on the PSVue app the ESPN channels and NBC Sports work great. However trying to watch the NFL on Fox or CBS the frame rate is very choppy and probably closer to 30 fps.

FS1 and FS2 are horrible for me for framerate as well. Even on the FoxSportsGO App for the FireTV. However, the WatchESPN app gives me perfect 60 fps for everything.

Anyone have any experience with this as well? Am I debilitating myself by using my FireTV? Should I get something else to make it better?

I think I'm gonna be dropping Netflix. I don't use it enough to justify the now $15/mo when you include taxes. Getting much more use out of my moviepass.com subscription of $10/mo combined with DirecTV Now and Amazon Prime video.

                          Re: Cord cutting

Had to cut the cord with Comcast at the end of the month. I didn't want to pay 160$ for TV + Internet once my bundle expired and they kept trying to shoehorn me into Triple Play. I was looking into streaming services and noticed that Hulu's "Live TV" doesn't have CBS or FOX in my area.

It seems like most of the services are pick and choose with the locals.

How does YouTube TV work? I didn't even hear about it in till like 2 months ago or something. like can you record sports with it or any thing? I have cable and really the only reason I have it is because like 90% of the time I am watching TV I am watching sports so stuff like Netflix don't help.
