My gripe with the writing of his character was his propensity to violence against women. I believe this was done to make him the clear-cut “villain”. Killing his gf, choking the elder Wakandan, killing a kings’ guard and his attempt on Shuri’s Life. All unnecessary. I felt his motivation to liberate oppressed people around the world on a personal level. I peeped what the writers were doing and found myself rooting for at least one of those planes to get away. He’s up there with Magneto in X-men: Days of.. as one of my favorite anti-hero comic movie characters

IMO, within the context of the film i.e. the roles that those women played occupying positions of importance and thus being obstacles in his path, as well as the total "ends justify the means" utterly ruthless personality of the character I felt that it was a more utilitarian application of violence as opposed to being misogynistic. Evil of course, but IMO not born of a particular prejudice.

I’m not saying he was misogynistic. Just that him hurting women was the vehicle used to drive home that he was “the bad guy”. The scene where he choked the old lady is what stuck with me the most.

Did anyone hear the story about that theater that had Fifty Shades Freed play instead of this film?

I mean eventually they figured it out, but they got like a solid ten minutes of the wrong film. Not to mention the trailers that accompanied it.

The 20 screen theater we go to has $5 Tuesdays. We see everything on Tuesdays, because even the brand new releases are just five bucks. And with reserved seating, I can buy tickets a week in advance, so it's not even a hassle when it is crazy busy. So we see a movie every week now.

Really can't wait for this. My wife is out of town, and I considered trying to hit it this weekend.

Welp couldn’t resist the hype anymore. Saw a theater wasn’t sold out this morning and jumped on it. Gonna have to pretend like I’m seeing it for the first time when I go with my friends Tuesday.

Movie was phenomenal. Michael B Jordan was great. I’ll try to rank it after I see it a second time, but raw reaction is saying this is a top 2 Marvel film for me.

Saw it this morning/afternoon. The first GotG will probably always be my #1 Marvel movie, but BP is right there with the first IM, Winter Soldier and Civil War for me.

Boseman and Jordan were both terrific but I figured that would be the case.
