    Re: Black Panther (2018)

Someone who isn't getting enough written credit (i.e. isn't being talked about as much as Boseman and Jordan) is Winston Duke, aka M'Baku. I had never seen him in anything, and he was a natural. Nailed the character.

It's funny but both times I've seen it, his voice throws me. He always sounds kinda like Tom Hardy doing Bane lol.

Another thought on M'Baku in spoilers as it might pertain to future stuff.

      Black Panther (2018)

Just came across this online today figured I’d see what you guys were thinking. This is hard cause there’s some really good ones spread out here, but ultimately I think I’d have to go with group 1. But which group of MCU villains is the best/your favorite?

              Re: Black Panther (2018)

Saw it earlier today and absolutely loved it, such a fun ride through the movie. Killmonger was such a bad ***, one of the top 5 Villains for sure and that list may change according to what scene we're talking about heh

Loki, Hela, Vulture, Ultron (mainly cause i'm such a fan of Spader)

This movie is easily top 3 Marvel movies for me with The first Avengers and Civil war. I can't wait to own this 4k DVD, hell I'd go see it 2 more times if it meant I could own the DVD next week.

Already know i'm going to see it at least once more with my brother, my niece and my cousin.

                  Re: Black Panther (2018)

Just got back from the movie and while I like it I do fell disappointed some what. Maybe it was the crazy hype or something need to see it again. Ever one said how great of a villain the movie had but I thought the villain was kind of lame. Not sure where I put this on the MCU movies but I know it is behind Cap Civil war and winter solider for sure and maybe even Spider-Man HC and Doctor strange. So this may be around my 5th favorite MCU movie.

I've had 2 guys here at work say something similar about it being over hyped and wasn't as good as the hype. They both said it wasn't enough action for them, do you feel the same way? Curious

Considering it not only establishes a new setting within the Marvel universe, creates a foundation for Wakanda's tribal political conflicts, and establishes one of the better villains in the Marvel movie-verse I thought the balance between action and narrative was excellent. The narrative drives the action which made each sequence more meaningful overall. There's multiple macguffins throughout as each character and relationship has a different motivation and dynamic.

It's a rich movie that has actual depth. There's an excellent balance between story and action and the pacing has a steady, progressing flow throughout. This is easily a top 3 Marvel film.

If you're just looking for an all-out brawl with shallow narrative and a flimsy villain like some of the other Marvel films this is definitely not that.

Some what from the reviews the movie sounded epic/amazing like the best superhero movie ever or something and while I liked it I wouldn't say I loved it and I do think there could have been more action but the biggest thing was I felt the villain was kind of weak after all the talk about the villain being so great and also going like 50 minutes with out seeing the villain after you first see him I thought hurt the movie.

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I absolutely don't understand this at all.

To you, what made him weak?

I've read tons of comments and watched reviews from people who didn't love it and the only things I take away from them are that there were almost PTSD-inducing similarities to The Phantom Menace, and that the CGI and last fight weren't great. The first I thought was hilarious when pointed out to me, the second I guess just didn't bother me. I can accept the argument that maybe the action didn't always do the narrative justice but it just wasn't a major issue to me. I guess if the overall themes don't hit with you, you'd be more inclined to really nitpick. I was just so in awe for most of the movie.
