Re: The Americans - Season 6
Am I a Russian sympathizer if I want Philip, Elizabeth, (and probably Paige) to make it out of this? Of course the odds are long for that to happen. The writing is on the wall for one of those characters.Comment

Re: The Americans - Season 6
I can't remember but was Philip in any of the scenes they previewed for next week? I remember Stan talking to somebody in custody (never showed who) and Elizabeth and Paige in a car (never showed the driver). That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

Re: The Americans - Season 6
Outlandishly bold prediction that I base on absolutely nothing:
Spoiler
-Character Actress Margo Martindale tags Nesterenko while he's on his way out, and that gets the CIA to swarm
-Elizabeth gets picked up running and takes a bite into her necklace.
-Phillip intercepts Paige/relays a message to her and is caught by Stan while buying time for her to fall off the grid and cancel any suspicious activity
-There is no payoff to the Stan's girlfriend arc
And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

Nesterenko would be under heightened security but "if history's taught us anything it's that you can kill anyone." (Michael Corleone)
I think they said goodbye to Claudia but if they go there it's a kamikaze mission.
-Elizabeth gets picked up running and takes a bite into her necklace.
This one almost seems inevitable, but maybe it's too obvious. Holly Taylor's (Paige) comments about her character's final sceneSpoileras being "absolutely heartbreaking" and "so sad" are either careless wording in an interview or a device to throw us off.
-There is no payoff to the Stan's girlfriend arc
Is there really a big expectation for a payoff? I'm beginning to think the surprise would be if she is a spy.Comment

Final predictions before the finale:
SpoilerWild guess- Stan's girlfriend is a spy but Stan is playing her.
The show applies predictability and kills off Elizabeth. She will use herself as a diversion to allow Phillip and Paige to escape. Holly Taylor's interview comments are the only thing that make me pause a little on that prediction.
Martha will make an appearance.

Re: The Americans - Season 6
Talk about riveting moments.
I was shocked when theSpoilerStan-Jennings confrontation happened at the 1/3 point of the episode. I'm still analyzing why Stan let everyone go but it had to be a combination of letting Oleg's message get through for world peace sake, Phillip's sincerity ringing through, the welfare of Henry, and Stan just not having the heart to shoot anyone.
The visuals were obvious but it still got in my head thatSpoilerPaige was detained. I don't know why I thought that with no authorities in sight.

Good finale. Can’t imagine Paige doesn’t get arrested, though? Then again, I don’t know what proof they had of her involvement, aside from Stan’s talk in the garage, but he’s obviously not going to let any word of that get out.Last edited by superjames1992; 05-31-2018, 01:00 AM.Comment

Re: The Americans - Season 6
The style in this episode was ****ing unbelievable. Just gorgeous shots, perfect music choices, incredible acting, intense scenes, the choice of the final American meal, the final line of the series. Magnificent. Masterpiece.
Storywise I'm not crazy about it. But it might grow on me.Comment

Re: The Americans - Season 6
What could they get Paige for? The garage conversation will never come up and who knows she fled except Stan? Her brief career as a backup spy didn't give her much exposure.Comment

Re: The Americans - Season 6
At worst they bring Paige in for questioning about what she knew, but I don't think there's anything they could pin to her.
I was very satisfied with the ending. A "happy" ending was never realistic (or even possible) with this show, but I was glad everyone made it out alive.
It's fun to speculate what happened to everyone after the series. Maybe Stan leaves the FBI. Once the Cold War ends, do the Jennings reunite somewhere? Does Henry ever forgive his parents? Does the guilt of leaving their children overwhelm Phillip and Elizabeth? Does Philip meet his Russian son? Does Mail Robot finally find love?Comment
