Is it ok not too use spoilers now? I'll put my discussion just incase.

Interesting tidbit on the Knight King scene in the end that I read. After rewatching the scene I agree with this now.

    Spoiler

So I've been thinking. I think we're in agreement that the army at Winterfell has been decimated. They can't have many men left. So how are they going to even stand a chance marching/sailing to Kings Landing? Do you think there is a chance that somehow Dorne joins the fight. I honestly can't remember what happened last with them. I know that the wife of Oberyn killed Doran and I guess took over. Then her and the sand snakes got captured by Cersei. I don't remember if she killed them or they are still in the dungeon. Either way will Dorne become something finally or will they still just be there? They are really the only place that still has a full army that I can tell.

To add to the last post if they do decide to sail to Kings Landing from the Iron Isles they would have to go around Dorne anyways. Why wouldn't the send at least someone to see what's up.

Holy **** bro. Just rewatched that scene and you are 100% correct. No reason he needs to say that unless he did it for that reason.

How would the show be the same? Without the WW there is absolutely no reason for any of these different people to be fighting together as one. The WW Arc is what brought them all together and gave Jon Snow the purpose of uniting them all. Pretty sure the entire show would be completely different without the WW.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Final season)

After watching it a third time I’m actually more upset about the decisions made in the show than initially thought. There was no real fight between NK and Jon. After all these years between them and not one single sword clang.

Don’t get me wrong Arya can get the last shot but damn no fight for Jon or Bran doing a cool worg to fight but he just ended up just doing nothing. I guess we’ll find out later but what the hell was that Raven worg all about. Just a missed big fight with all three together.

Also the military strategy is just horrendous on both sides. The original plan was to bum rush your baddest soldiers in the dark. What waste for the Dothraki and Unsullied.

Jon fought these guys twice and didn’t learn anything. They don’t like water or fire and you couldn’t build a trench farther out and just spam dragon glass over the trench or funnel the brainless WW into a slaughter into Dothraki and Unsullied.

Or put the kids and women in the Crypt knowing the NK can raise the dead. I was expecting at least Rob or any other Stark came back alive. Jon is just not a good military strategist, he gets bailed out everytime.

The NK and the generals did nothing also. These guys just walked in like lazy asses like they couldn’t be touched. If anything, instead of showing Jamie, Brienne look like they are about to die on bunch of WW we should have had an epic battle with Valerian swords vs the generals like what Jon had in Hardhomme. What a way to die but no it’s like Game of Thrones is scared to be Game of Thrones.

Anyway rant over, still enjoyed the episode and didn’t kill anything big for me, just disappointed with this NK and WW story ending like that.

Yeah I was still emotional during it, it was well directed and so many great moments with Lady Mormont, Jorah and Arya. It was awesome to see the trench light up as well, still a lot of amazing visuals.

I just think it fell short with all the great battles this show had. I never had that “ooo that was clever” moment like the others.

That was a good article. Initially I thought the writer would just blame the the TV writers about differing from what she wanted. But then she hit the nail on the head explaining it was her own high expectations for what she wanted to happen which is causing her disappointment. I think that is the key issue for most who didn't like the ending. Just a high hope for what they wanted to happen not happening. That's why we are getting so many "negative reactions" but at the same time saying the also liked the episode a lot (looking at you Mike lol). I can totally understand how some feel that way for sure.

There is no military strategy for the dead. That's what I think people are missing. You could have the most brilliant strategy in the world. It wouldn't matter. Many knew they were rushing to their deaths.

You can lay dragon glass as traps all through out. What's it matter when the NK can just keep raising the dead? That's the great equalizer.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But when you can keep raising the dead. Your options are severely limited and nobody can best the NK one on one. It took the perfect trap to end it.

Yeah, I've never seen zombies have an organized battle plan. Blew my mind that people were annoyed that the WWs weren't more analytical in their approach.

People were upset with the living's battle strategy more then anything I believe. Even though we know Jon and Dany are not great tacticians by any means.

But as I said what strategy works against someone that can continuously bring back the dead. That is impossible. Not to mention an absolute morale killer.

The battle wasn't about a grand master plan. It was about surviving and holding the North by any means necessary with the known fact that most if not any would survive the night.

I think alot of people need to calm down and take a deep breath lol

There are 3 episodes left. The next episode we will learn some things in the aftermath of the battle. Could be some really key elements that are explained next episode.

If not then I'll say I might be disappointed a bit. But this series was never solely predicated on the Night King and his army. That's never been the main plot point.

The main focus has always been the Iron Throne. And I know we are in for some really special stuff these next few weeks.
