It's like the Tony spy shack(which this has actually been compared to). People thought others should've been able to see him hiding there since the camera would be following him, but when you're seeing many cameras 24/7, you don't think anything out of the ordinary if one might be in a diff spot.
While the # of cameras and conditions help, it would be easy to use them. Most people just don't think about it or if they do, it would never be shown on TV.

There are limited # of cameramen and they have to switch out all the time because of union laws. I'm sure they know where they enter and leave the camp ground through. There are also rules about not exploring anymore, so you have limited area to film. This does make it harder as there are more cameras in the smaller area. While they do need B roll shots, they aren't going to be shooting a bush for a long time.

The only time I can remember someone using the camera to their advantage was on Big Brother.

One in particular, someone noticed one camera was randomly focused on a certain spot on their bed(where nobody was near). It turns out, the camera was focused there because of a twist, and the spot it was focused on was where the envelope was hidden.

fair point, and apparently they're used to being filmed while sleeping, which is weird, but when the sneaky dude had to catch flame from the other camp, they kept waking up and seeing camera guys and thinking nothing of it

I think that was just clever editing too. He probably went in and out with no problem, and they just used any footage they had of people looking around to make it seem like it was a close call.

            Which is what usually happens.

And if he steps on a twig, sound effects make it sound like he just broke a tree branch and everyone might wake up.

Like during tribal how we sometimes see reaction shots to certain moments. I doubt those are the exact reactions at times.

Tribals are also long so they have bunch of options.

I can't believe the same tribe keeps losing and the 1 person causing it keeps staying in the game. This has to be some Big brother level interference to keep her in the game.

it's like they're already trying to keep around the person they know they can beat in the end.

Speaking of Karishma, that was the 2nd most awkward real moment on Survivor right?

Flat out admitting on national TV that she's never been happy in her marriage. If he didn't know already, I wonder what her husband thought when watching this.

Never knew arranged marriages were a thing in western culture. She might be first Indian american ever on Survivor, but she seems like a poor representation. Similar to Tom as first Canadian ever. Sure he's a former NHL player, but the first canadian ever, you'd think they would've had someone better.

She's one of worst players who has lasted this long. Other bad players just get no edit or get voted out early.

Nobody will vote her in the end for sure.

And like Jamal said, they could keep someone well connected on other side in, or keep someone who has no connections and would stay loyal to their new group.

It's prevalent for Indians still, but usually only for the 1st generation of kids when their parents come over. Plus if you aren't married by 30, it's a bad status symbol and the pressure is huge to allow the family to find a spouse. He probably feels the same way, but now that's it out in public, he could split from her and she could be shunned by her family even more than she was before she was married.

She is probably the worst player ever because she is on the screen so much. There's really no reason to have her on the screen.

I was thinking the same thing, idunno her marriage status, or whatever she may or may not have told her hubby she'd say for gameplay, and it might've totally been gameplay , but considering her ability thus far in the game I'd wonder

Only reason she'd get this much time is if she makes the finale.

If she ends up the boot right after the merge or makes final 5, it'd be random to have her as a main character of the season and airing her dirty laundry on tv.

Voting out strong guys early is one things that I think a lot of the Survivor players get wrong, especially the middle of the road guys athletic guys. It's pretty rare for anyone to "run the table" with individual immunity and guys like Dean are perfect shields to keep the post merge target off of you. Whereas, someone like Karishma will most likely skate right to the end since she's not a threat to win anything and people will want her sitting beside them at the finale.

just imagine a future state of Survivor where all the players suck on purpose to get carried to the end

                            survivor tanking

how bad will it get? will people start drowning on purpose just to be rescued by production?

if medical can't save them, do they win posthumously?

maybe there's an idol in the afterlife

It all started because they took the surviving aspect out of the game. They have enough food, so winning rewards and catching fish doesn't matter.

I never get the "vote out physically strong guys earlier" mentality.

Especially since the game is more about strategy and puzzles and balance than it is about survival and physical strength.

When was last season we saw the tribe keep someone because they could fish?
