I was 11 years old.....it was a rainy thunder and lightning night....and I was forever changed with horror and suspense movies.

    A masterpiece to this day.

I loved Halloween 2018. I thought it was a top 3 in the entire lore. The first and II are my top two. I was kinda sad they disregarded the second one since it took place on the same night. But oh well. I thought Halloween 4 was also very very strong.

So it sounds from your impressions I am going to love Halloween Kills. My son and wife are also huge Meyers fans. So we are all excited to have a double feature at home tomorrow night.

How were you ablate see it Tuesday if I may ask? Are you an actual movie critic?
I like to think that I am, haha! I was able to get an advance screening, limited passes to the public. I don't know if it's because I see a lot of these or review them that I get notified about them, but that's what this was. I haven't gone to an advance screening in a long time (EDIT: now that I think of it that's due to COVID).

I surely hope you enjoy it! I've seen them all now except Halloween III. I have to go back and see which ones I liked the most of the original films. I think that the fourth one and H20 stood up okay to me, leave the first two (I'm trying to remember how much I liked the second one actually). But yeah, I personally like Halloween (2018) and Rob Zombie's Halloween the most, minus its annoying characters.

I've been doing the slow burn binge of the Child's Play movies. They were all on television on tuesday because of the new Chucky tv show and I only managed to watch the first 3 cause of work lol. Football season and working has interrupted my horror binges this year.
      Last Movie Watched: Morbius (2022).
Last TV Show Watched: MARVEL's What If?...(S3:E7).

Seed of Chucky is the worst, but all the rest are very watchable.

I missed the premiere of the new series, but gonna watch the first episode soon.

So you have never seen Season of the Witch? Well......let me tell you...go into it with a completely open mind and forget it has the name “Halloween III” attached to it.

A really creepy cool story man. I saw this in the theater back in the day.....90% walked out in the first 40 minutes cursing and asking for a refund. I stuck it out and was rewarded with a very twisted Halloween tale.

Carpenters vision way back in the day was to release a new “Halloween” movie every year with a brand new story revolving around the holiday itself. I thought the idea was brilliant and could have spawned numerous sequels....the possibilities were endless. However Yablin (one of the executive producers) was beside himself after Halloween III which bombed. I mean a total bomb and was gone from the theaters within 2 weeks.

It has now earned itself a bonafide and well deserved “Cult” status. If you ever have the chance get the Scream Factory BD and watch the the documentary “Stand Alone”. It really sheds a lot of light on the vision and making of this movie.

It is actually one of favorite “Halloween” horror movies and is completely separate from the Meyers canon. I never rank it along with the Meyers movies. Speaking of:

          1. Halloween

          2. Halloween II

          3. Halloween IV The Return of Michael Meyers

          4. Halloween 2018

          5. Rob Zombies Halloween

          6. Halloween H2O

          7. Halloween V The Revenge of Michael Meyers

          8. Halloween VI The Curse of Michael Meyers Producers Cut (vastly superior BTW)

          9. Halloween Resurrection

          10. Rob Zombies Halloween II (Pure ****e)

Wow we are now 11 films into the Meyers canon (with Halloween Kills tonight and we will see where it will rank after a few viewings).

Anyway give Halloween III Season of the Witch a shot man.....you may even like it.

For what it is, Halloween III is great. I'm a huge fan. People are always turned off from watching it, but the people I got to watch it all really liked it after not even willing to give it a chance before.

Gonna watch Kills tonight. So excited.

I started watching Halloween III, then about five minutes in I realized it didn't have Michael, and I shut it off. I'll give it a shot again later. At first I thought I was like watching a Terminator movie or something, heh.

Halloween Kills has a little bit of II mixed with a little bit of IV. It has some of the worse qualities in it too though, specifically just with the characters. I'll only get it on UHD if Halloween Ends is a good capper.

I enjoyed everything up until the third act and ending. Total letdown and won't say more than that.

I'm hoping they make sense of some things in the third movie and go out with a bang.

It's not the best, but I thought Kills knocked it out of the park. Solid film.

Third act was really weak. Anthony Michael Hall was a total miscast…..will give more thoughts after I watch it again.

Coming off the brilliant Halloween 2018 this was not in the same league.

Re: OS Official Horror Movie Thread

As I consider this movie to be more of a "middle act" as I stated before, I'll reserve all judgment for this film's placement until I see Halloween Ends. I didn't have qualms with the final act ending so to speak, but I believe everything in it is meant for what is planned ahead.

I'll fully agree that Halloween (2018) is not only the superior film, but it is by far superior (and I prefer it over all the other Halloween films, really). I also believe that it is a very complete film, though. It helps that it has a movie in its continuity before it, but you're not missing out on the elements of that movie when watching it as a standalone. We also didn't require sequels afterward if we just say: "Hey, Michael burned up." Halloween Kills, however, feeds off of what was before it... and was very much filmed with the intention that it wants to tell more afterward.

I'm interested to see what things people had problems with in the final act. I have other preferences for sure, but we'll also see how things resolve themselves next year as well. My biggest issues with this movie were idiotic characters with more idiotic decisions, overexplained histories and thematic elements, and a lull in the second act with "side plots" if that's what you'd call them. But the final act, for me, either stands on its own merits as "pretty okay" or is a "wait and see" because it is more of a conclusion to the second act that is for 2018/Kills/Ends.

Unfortunately I probably won't be seeing this one again for a while. I don't have NBC Peacock, there are too many other films in theaters that I gotta use my free time to see, and I likely won't be getting this on UHD unless Ends seals everything well as a great Halloween flick (and Kills needs to fit in the timeline).

Thinking back it was the middle act I had issues with. The final act was furious and brutal.

The middle act felt very forced….I despised the towns people and the chaotic hospital scenes….just blech.

And again Tommy Doyle was a a total whiff of a miscast and I did not like his storyline.

Overall though I liked the movie. Michael was evil, brooding and relentless.

If you mean Anthony Michael Hall was miscast for the character you saw on screen in this film, I thought he was fine. If you mean he was miscast as Tommy, I agree... but forty years can do a lot to a person who is very wrecked from a childhood torment, heh.

Heck, look at Laurie. Removing every Halloween film but the original, I'm surprised people don't feel her character evolution turned too macho and one-dimensional in 2018. Not in a bad way, but that she lives only for one purpose now, which is something I think she over-obsessed with for a forty-year stretch while a man was locked away, maybe not even thinking about her at all. Anyway, I mentioned all that once before... but besides the fact that it's still Jamie Lee Curtis and I can't call it a "miscast," I found it to be an interesting choice of character change.

I agree about Anthony Michael Hall. His character felt off to me.

I've seen people say this was worse than 2018, and some say better. I liked it better. I felt it was the Empire Strikes Back of the series.

The mask is my favorite of any mask in the series except the original.
