The "too good to be true" side of me says there is no deal and that the elements that can be used from F13 sequels are simply things that are direct descendants of Miller's intellectual property (ie the name Pamela instead of just Mrs. Voorhees).

I hope there is a deal and I'll watch either way if this ever sees the light of day.

There seemingly is a deal. Victor Miller and Rob Barsamian are executive producers and Barsamian is basically the owner of Horror Inc. Which is/was Cunningham's company which owns the rights to adult Jason.

Larry Zerner, who you probably know was Shelly from part 3 is an entertainment lawyer and basically confirmed they are now working together. So it looks like it's in a good place.

And I'm sure it will see the light of day considering it's NBC Universal and they have already ordered the first season for Peacock, and the studio is A24, which has a good track record with horror.

Also, wasn't the failed series supposed to be done by WB? Either way, the only reason it didn't come out was because of the lawsuit. Just like the movie which was already casted and in pre-production. So I don't see an issue now. So let's hope it all works out.

Also, did anyone see the look Jason was gonna have in that TV series? They ended up showing some pics and I thought the look was really good. Too bad they couldn't have done that.

Also, I think there were two movies that were in the works. I read some of the leaked script of one of them. It was interesting to say the least.

There are a bunch of scripts out there for movies that didn't get made. There are a few Halloween ones that were actually pretty good.

Bryan Fuller, a lifelong fan, will direct and be the show runner, with Victor Miller himself being an executive producer.

In the article it updates to say they will in fact be able to use elements of the original sequels. It was reported earlier that they wouldn't be able to. But this leads me to believe that Miller and Cunningham have reached a deal. Like I said before, money talks.

I can't overstate how excited I am for this.
Freddy, Jason, Michael, Leatherface and Chucky will never die! Either in the film/television world or in their fictional universes. [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38]

And the saddest part is I'm such a sap that complains every time a retread of one of these icons occurs. Unfortunately, I also contribute to the endless parading of them cause I love horror and these iconic (and overused) characters. [emoji2377]

I heard it mentioned on a podcast and now I might want to see "Prey for the Devil". Still want to see "Smile" too.

My local Alamo Drafthouse plays old horror movies every Friday night and I always keep an eye on what they're showing and am sure to go if they are showing a Friday the 13th film.

Last night they showed a brand new scan (to Real D 3D) of Friday the 13th Part 3 and it was amazing. Seeing Part 3 in 3D on the big screen was ****ing phenomenal! If you have the chance to see it - GO!

Re: OS Official Horror Movie Thread

Been digging into my BD collection of old classic horror. I am talking Universal Monsters and Hammer Horror. So over the last 3 weeks we have watched all of the Christopher Lee Dracula movies. What a hoot. Some great ones and some clunkers.

My top Hammer Dracula films are:

              1. Dracula Prince of Darkness
              2. The Horror of Dracula
              3. Brides of Dracula
              4. Dracula Rises From The Grave
              5. Taste The Blood of Dracula

Also watched a couple of Peter Cushing Frankenstein flicks:

              The Curse of Frankenstein
              The Evil of Frankenstein

Just moody old school horror. Harmless by today’s standards but it takes me back to my early childhood and first exposure to horror.

We are about to start the Universal Monsters Blue Ray collection. We have all of them.

              Dracula Legacy
              Frankenstein Legacy
              Wolfman Legacy
              The Mummy Legacy
              The Invisible Man Legacy
The Creature From The Black Lagoon Legacy

I love so many of these classics. All in B/W except the Creature From The Black Lagoon sequels.

Also all the Abbot and Costello Monster films are included! Love those.

I don't watch a lot of horror mainly because I'm the only person in the house who'll watch. I did finally watch "Smile" and I enjoyed it.

It uses a lot of modern horror tropes, but like Hereditary, it makes enough meaningful changes to stand on its own.

Both movies have bat**** crazy endings that I loved too.
