    Survivor 44

Another new season of Survivor is here.

First time we've had back to back spring seasons begin in March (I'd imagine this one also ends in the last week of May).

I haven't read a single thing about this season, so will be interesting to see how I like the cast or what twists/idols/advantages we see episode 1.

      Re: Survivor 44

What a crazy first episode. Med evac that wasn't a med evac, but later turned in to one. Then we has two other instances where medical also had to come in.

An idol find infront of everyone, two advantages being won, 2 shots in the dark played, and an idol being played correctly.

Revealing the shot in the dark was being played tipped off everyone. Why play a shot in the dark in what could be a 3-3 or 4-2 vote? Unless..it was gonna be a 5-1 vote (or 4-1-1) and you wanted to make sure that 1 wasn't you.

All these advantages does bring up the question of timing. What can or can't be played before or after other things, and what's the official cutoff?

Brandon only really played his idol after two shots in the dark were played AND he knew the result of those shots in the dark. And with that inheritance advantage, do you even have to announce you intend to play it, or do you literally just wait until Jeff is about to read the votes and everyone who has played an advantage has played one (and does this mean nobody else can play an advantage after the inheritance was played or their advantage becomes part of what was already inherited?)

Definitely sucks. Never even getting a chance to play the game.

I wonder if it's a concussion. He was fine after the fact, but once it came to the night, that's when he was struggling. In a way it's good he was pulled then over falling asleep like that. You wouldn't know if he's just asleep or passed out overnight.

Jeff announced that Bruce has been invited back to compete on a future season of the show. That's a nice gesture. He's not even really considered a returnee since he really didn't get to do anything.

On the new Survivor podcast Probst said they have an open invitation for him to come back. He said trying to cast him has gone back to before covid. When I was watching live I thought he might have hit his head and though to myself that was way too close. Then they showed the blood.

As far as shoulder guy I knew he was about to fall when Survivor did a music change.

I like that the cage advantage was just a straight up immunity idol.

          Re: Survivor 44

An underrated part of the tribal was that despite Lauren being a target and nobody believing her story about the advantage (and the person on the other tribe outing her during the challenge), she did say she lost her vote (rather than the actual part about her skipping this vote to gain an extra vote later on).

And since the tribal was just a 2-1 vote with 2 shots in the dark played, would people believe her now?

Another fun twist to build on the "bank your vote" advantage would be unlimited banks. You can bank your vote as many times as you want. Maybe you have to use it by the final 8 or so (or whatever the math works out to be where even if you bank all votes up to a certain point in the merge, you don't have more power than everyone else combined). Someone having 4 or 5 votes for instance could cause chaos if people are doing a vote split to flush an idol.

Obviously nobody on that tribe will fall for the fake immunity idol. But I wonder if that tribe would be smart enough to ban together to give the fake idol to the other tribe, or specifically, one person on one of the other tribes they want out and will put a target on their back by giving them the idol.

The idol I'd imagine is placed back in the same cage, free for whoever wants to get it this time around (once finding the key).

Would likely require someone having to dig to hide the idol somewhere because the second someone realizes the idol is gone from the cage, everyone is checking bags.

Something people picked up on that sounds like a cool twist.

One tribes real idol is a medallion, and they were given a coin as a fake idol.

Another tribes real idol is a coin, and were given beads as a fake idol.

The other tribes real idol are beads, and were given a medallion as a fake idol.

So if we see a merge or even a tribe swap, giving someone a fake idol could lead to even crazier moments because their fake idol looks like someone else's real one.

Yeah I really like the idols being on display, and I love that each tribe the idol reveal has been different. One it was fully open, one is totally secret, and one was semi-secret. Actually shocked they thought Carollyn was an easy out since they should’ve known she had gotten the idol. Easier to see as a viewer I guess.

Pretty clear people see Carollyn as being the person they can drag with them to the final who won’t get any winning votes. She could control the whole game if she sees it and plays it right though. I see her as very similar to Noura from Tommy’s winning season (39, I think).

My way too early Survivor pick is Sarah from the purple tribe. She seems athletic to hold up in challenges and nice enough to get by tribals. I also like I believe her name is Heidi from the green tribe.

Another thing is that I think the 2 papers are completely separate and don't mention each other. If that is the case, you could put the fake idol back with the real paper and hide the key so someone finds it. That way no one thinks you have it.

It's interesting how 3 tribes had 3 completely different outcomes on idols.

1 person flat out found it infront of everyone.

1 person found it and snuck the cloth back in and nobody knows.

1 person found it and tired making it look like nothing happened but everyone knows someone took it.

The perfect outcome for the way they hid the idol in plain sight. I absolutely love all the ways it can go based on the idol, the fake idol making items, and just the raw information some might have about what it is in the cage (besides the idol).

The special idols the 3 who went off to the island are interesting too. Not sure exactly how the one is to be used.

Is that allowed? I know we have seen fake idols before, but has anyone ever hidden a fake idol with the real paper? That seems like an obvious ploy, but my survivor history knowledge is awful.

I feel like it's happened, but I also feel like there's a rule that now states you need to have the note with the real idol.
