speaking of videocards, whats a good inbetween card BETWEEN geforce 4 mx440 and the nvidia 6800.

Price range is 50-150 bucks. the 6800 looks to be 225-400.

... Doom 3 was made for Nvidia why would a ATI card outperform it? Oh, wait it wouldn't. Unreal Tourny 2004, and when Quake 4 comes out will apply for that also. Although yes it does need the SLI setup to win in UT 2004 but still.

You posted benchmarks which did not include the x850XT PE.
I did. Go back and read it.
1 x850 beats 1 ultra almost every time. Even against 2 ultra's, 1 x850 more than holds it own, and at a much cheaper cost to us, the consumer.

Rememeber this:

ATI is pathetic Nvidia has proven that there 6800 is much better then anything ATI has to offer just search benchmarks. Nvidia is the key reason I am buying the PS3.

How did that turn out?

i saw that the 6800 needs a 300W power supply. How could I find out what my PC tower has in regards to power supply? Would it be labeled on the back near the 3 socket plugin/fan area?

6 months lol? It took PC's to catch up graphically in 1 month last time around, history likes to repeat itself. Your an idiot. You have no idea that PC's of today are already ahead in terms of Memory, HDD's, and Processors in a few months will be LONG ahead of next gen. You know what a PS3 and XBOX 360 is? A cheap PC, explain how a cheap PC is better then a real PC?

It didn;t take the pc's long to catch up last time because they were using existing pc parts in the xbox. The graphics capabilities that they have now aren't even going to be available for the pc. You are really overestimating the power of the pc.

This may be true but when it comes to features, downloads and mods a PC can still do a lot more than a console can! However... the current xbx can do anything a PC can do but the sad thing is Devz aren`t taking advantage of it.

There is no huge mod community for consoles like there is for PC`s. Do you know what a mod is? I would just like to see add-ons and special downloads for current xbx games. This would atleast satisfy me but its nothing close to what PC gamers get for there games!

Newegg has 6600's for under 150, and 6600 GT's starting at a little over that.

The power supply should be located at the top rear of your case, and there should be a sticker on the supply itself showing the maximum output in watts(W).

From what I could gather, Smart 3d isn't even in the works, at least anytime soon, for a crossover to the PC cards. Maybe the G70 or R520 cards will bridge the gap for the PC, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's late 2006, early 2007 before PC vid cards match, or surpass, the GPU technology going into the 360.

It would be hard for a console to top todays top end pc rigs. But right now, it's not about the hardware. It's about the games. PC gaming is in quite a lull right now. As a PC gamer myself, I find it insulting that games were being ported from the consoles to the PC. It used to be just the opposite! Now go into any game shop, and we see that the PC games are pushed aside. That's the state of the game world these days. I am done upgrading my rig for a good while. What good does it do to have a top shelf workstation when all of the innovation in gaming is coming from the console side?

I used to look at consoles as toys. I really had no respect for them. Now, I can't wait to get my hands on the 360 AND the PS3! Why? Because that's where the games are.

Personally I could care less what any of the Jagoffs on G4 say about either console. Especially so far before they are even close to being released to the public. Not to mention I rarely agree with what any of those people on G4 have to say when it comes to games anyway.

I'll end up buying a PS3 and a XBOX 360. I've alread resigned myself to that fact. I just don't have the willpower to pass up one of the new consoles.

Anyone who is a fanboy or has blind allegiance to either one of these companies, needs a swift kick in the shorts.

Beautifully said. I haven't been a computer gamer for a long time but I honestly love how AoE3 looks. EE2 didn't look all that appealing to me cause the graphics were years behind. I do want to see how Black & White are going to turn out. I heard the first wasn't that hot. Honestly, I really feel I need to increase in my knowledge about parts for electronics. Oh, the joy of message boards. Now that E3 is over, I'm surely curious to find out what the next few months are going to look like. Not going to camp to work this year either so I'll definitely be caught up this year. Just can't wait
