Re: Dead Rising Hands-On (Xbox 360)
Originally posted by mgoblueI think that's what one runthrough will take, but it's impossible to do many side missions (some are boss battle types too) all at once...just not possible to run back and forth enough, so will be fun experiencing new stuff every runthrough
Right now I'm in the middle of a battle with Cletus from the supermarket, I have beaten him twice already but everytime I start heading back to the security office my time is up for the objective. I think I need to get the strategy guide since there is one weapon that I haven't found yet which should beat him very fast, the SMG. If I can pick that up with the combo of the Katana, he goes down quick.
Yes, it is nearly impossible to do all of the side missions your first time through. I think that once you have leveled Frank up, the second time through will be so much easier. There's not too many games that I play through a second or third time after I beat them, but I see myself doing it with this game just to get all the endings + unlock all modes.
After 2 days of playing for about 5 1/2 hours total, I'm still liking this game. It does get you mad to the point of frustration, but still enjoyable.
We can't forget, this is Capcom. They have a history of making rather difficult games dating back to the NES. I still think to this day how tough Ghosts N' Goblins was on the NES or the semi-sequel in 3D Maximo. Now you want to play a tough game, go get a copy of Maximo (PS2) for $7 and you'll be pulling out more hair with that game than this one.Comment

P.S.

Originally posted by dubplateI'll do side missions when I know I have ample time to complete them. I've had two missions that didn't start for several hours so I did some side missions to kill the time and level up.

Saving people is a great level up though, you get pretty good points for each person.
I don't mind the saving as much either, as I'm getting used to it. I'd like the ability to create new saves (ala Oblivion), but it's not too bad.
The difficulty's fun too...can get frustrating at times, but I like the challenge, and it's really rewarding when you finally do save someone, or defeat a boss, you get that sense of accomplishment that is sometimes lacking in games that are easier.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Originally posted by mgobluethis is what I'm doing...there are some periods when you have time for them, and I fit them in, but i'm not stressing to try and make it to tons of survivors to help them (especially at the start, there's a ton of people that Otis mentions on the radio).

Originally posted by dubplateSome of the people in the side missions just annoy the crap out of me and I have to put them out of their misery. Case in point; the coward mission with the guy in the hardware store. That weakling couldn't fend for himself at all so I just ran through him with a chainsaw.
Right now i'm on the scoop that has the female cop in a store you have to investigate (anything more to mention would be spoilers, but what i said is what you get on the radio, so not ruining anything).Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Case 2-3 where you battle Cletus, there just isn't enough time to complete the mission if you don't have the right weapons to beat him in a nice quick timely manner. I've beaten him twice but due to spending too much time fighting him, I don't make it back to the office in time.
I was almost tempted to start all over again but now at Level 8, but I want to try and get the SMG which I heard could take him out.
Does anyone know where I can get the SMG from?Comment

Originally posted by candyman56I'm at Case #2-3 and at Level 8. I haven't rescued too many of the survivors, just a few. I'm concentrating on finishing up the main story the first time through and if I have time to save someone then I go for it.

Our you could always get the big machine gun off the back of the convicts car.Last edited by USF11; 08-11-2006, 09:38 AM."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Originally posted by USF11Theres a SMG over the camera store where you start the game, you need to jump from the stairs. I'm up to lvl 35 cause I started over and focused on rescuing people. Every person usually gets a level. Also theres an antique store that has unlimited katana's on the left side of the 2F of the part of the mall the game started in.
