exactly, what I've read of his book, he's raise, raise, and raise some more.

We need to get a poker night set up once a week where we all get together on one of the sites that lets you create private rooms and play.

It's just logic to raise. Don't need a book to tell you that.

totally agree, but to make it fair we should do play money, so we can get all of us in.

Doyle's theory is more suited for higher stakes games. In the low limit games that you would be playing, most of the players don't know what they are doing. They are oblivious to raises and don't really have the instincts or knowledge to know that they should fold. In these games, you should only play solid starting hands and don't try to bluff much or to reraise people out of pots. It doesn't work at the lower limits.

Trust me. I play poker for a living and know what I'm talking about.

I'm actually nearly finished Getting Started in Hold'Em right now. It's been a really good introductory book, and it explains core concepts like pot odds and implied pot odds very well. The limit section is really well done, and the no-limit section, although short, was pretty interesting as well. Definitely a great introductory book, even if you've been playing for a while.
"Getting Started" is an excellent choice for your first book. From there, read Small Stakes Hold Em. This book is by Ed Miller also. Those two books will help you immensely in play low stakes Hold Em.

Greenstein's book will be geared for much higher stakes players. Lower limit players, while they may enjoy it, should not follow the advice for their games. Lower limit games are a totally different animal.

What the hell is that? "Trust me. I play poker for a living and know what I'm talking about..." this is a message board, there's no need to announce your profession, I understand the concept of playing with bad players, that's why I start out playing top 10 hands only with the minor exceptions, I've made money in almost every free roll I've entered because I know how to play with people who generally don't have a clue. But thanks for the advice, the day I stop learning is the day I stop playing.

Also, your underage thus should not be playing in any of these freerolls!!!

Stop thinking everyone that makes a comment about poker is going against you. My freeroll theory is to build a big stack at the beginning and see what i can do from then on. I usually make the money if I play a freeroll also but I am a different player when doing a freeroll then at a Table.

So because you play poker for a living, you know what you are talking about? If I wanted to, by the government standards, I could say the same thing. Do I know what I'm talking about? Hell no.

What's your screen name anyways? I'd like to look at your stats. That is, if you play on-line. If you don't, what limits do you play at? How many hours a week do you play? Sorry for the questions, just kind of curious.

BTW: Don't take this post the wrong way. But anytime someone says they play poker for a living it makes me laugh.

Probably an Indian casino. You only have to be 18 for those.
