The new console with new graphics is $299 (lower end version of course). Of course that doesn't include the HD or wireless controller or headset, but it's still the new console with new graphics.

My problem is the $299 console SHOULD include a HD as well. No reason not do. HD's are dirt cheap nowadays. Then make the wireless controller an add-on accessory (like it is with the current Xbox version).

Honestly the $400 doesn't bother me that much, but the possibility of the hard drive not being utilized because it isn't "standard" could be scary.

I would try to convince people that everything will be okay, buy why do that. The more outrage over the pricing and bundles, the better chance Microsoft will lower the prices or adjust the bundles accordingly.

So please do keep complaining about the launch setup, nothing bad will come of it; only the slight chance Microsoft will try to accommodate people’s complaints.

Money is not a concern to me, it's about the Hard drive now. The Hard drive being standard was one of the biggest items that made me switch from PS2 to XBOX in the first place. If the hard drive isn't standard, then developers won't develop for it. At this point, 360HD=PS2 HD. I just don't understand how you could take a core product from the XBOX and not use it as a selling point to developers, game companies, etc for the 360. I'm very disappointed in Microsoft today. Nice Article Sdrotar. My feelings exactly.

Wireless internet...thats for people who already have wireless internet...thats not many people...and didn't sony scrap this idea? 7 controllers, thats for a lot of people who play one console, I don't tihnk thats an extra feature I would really need. a lot of people have to spend money on other things that are more important, so it's hard to save up money for just something on the side. Gas, bills, school, books, clothes, FOOD.

Nope, the wireless internet feature has not been scrapped, you're thinking about the idea of the PS3 being a wireless router being scrapped. The PS3 will no longer have the feature of becoming a wireless router, but it still has wireless internet built-in as a feature. The fact that you're getting that built in as opposed to spending an extra $100 for one on the X360 is the point I was trying to make. Even if the whole world isn't wireless, having the feature as standard from the beginning is a great advantage to have (especially if the PS3 is priced at the $400 point most people have rumored it to be). Having a lot of controllers simultaneously is a great feature especially for sports games and party games. Even multiplayer first person shooters makes it great (now you won't need to connect two PS3's together, you can just play with 6 or so people on one console, and using the HDMI ports, you can connect the sole PS3 to two televisions for some multiplayer party action). I was just saying that if the PS3 is indeed marked at $400 or lower (possibility), with all the added built-in features the system has that the X360 doesn't, that would be a pretty good value.

Has there been any official word from MS as to why they decided to go this route? Has the release date been announced? I thought I read that this would be able to hook up to my network which would enable me to save stuff to my computer's HD. Is this true either?

I do not see any way for MS to win this next console battle. In fact I see them losing more people to Sony.

                          Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced

I'm not surprised at all about the premium bundled version being offered at $399 with all the goodies included, but MS dropped the ball with their base model by NOT including a HDD and wireless controller.

I truly believe that MS could have grabbed a larger chunk of the current market share if they would have bundled those 2 things together with their $299 version.

I also expect a PS3 premium version to come out at about $499(maybe more?), so all those crying now about MS, will need larger tissues once Sony announces their prices.

I'll wait till the expected price drop, especially since my renewed enthusiasm with PC gaming(new rigs have a way of doing that), and the list of games I still need to play on my Xbox is long.

You'd be surprised how many people do have it. I'd say the majority of the people who play XBL (and few who use Sony's online system) that I know do have wireless. That is unless they have their Xbox right next to their cable modem or run CAT5 across their house - which usually isn't the case.

Still have not ventured into Wireless. I'm still running a 25 ft cable. I plan to go wireless once I get this new PC built.
