I'll probably rent this one and wait to see which game is better. There's 5 or 6 coming out between now and October. Stacked, World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour, World Championship Poker 2, and a couple of other minor titles. I'm gonna rent each one and see how they stack up.

Originally posted by gohThese games should have an online rep system.
I filed a complaint at pokerchamps after the last free roll where some ******* went all in every hand with any hand and won 9/10 times only really being favored 2 times and 1/2 was with pocket 4's wich isn't that great. They said they don't like it either but can't do anything about it since it doesn't violate rules. If these have some sort of rep systems all those people can play at certian tables and wipe each other out with their stupid hands then get their ***es handed to them later.(Well I'd hope so anyway)
Last night's free roll was another laughable moment. I have K-Q clubs and raise pre-flop while on the button, the guy on the big blind calls, flop comes, 7c-8c-Qs. I bet, he actually raises, so I ponder, hmmmm highest pair on the board and 1 club away from a King high flush. Naturally, I re-raise by going all-in(about 1000 chips left at that time), he quickly calls, cards are shown and he has a Qd and 9h, I'm laughing right? The only outs he has is that he gets either the 9d or 9s, or an extreme outside shot at a straight by getting a 10 and 6, nothing can be a club. Party Poker came thru and delivered a 10s on the turn ,and capped it off with a 6s on the river.....all at the table broke out in LOL, and wrote it off to another brilliant PP moment.
I just play the $1, $2, and free-rolls, and make enough to continue on. The laughs are worth the price of admission.Comment

Re: World Series of Poker
The worst I ever saw was at Pokerstars in a play money sit & go. As usual some *** goes all in 1st hand. 2 people call and it gets to me,I have pocket aces so of course I call. 1st guy that went in had Qd,3s,1st caller had QJ of clubs,2nd caller had K7 of diamonds and my aces were clubs and diamonds so Q3 boy is pretty much ****ed and only an unlikely spade flush, full house or some miracle 8 to Q straight flush wins it for him,Q comes on the flop,3's on the turn and river and that was the last hand I played there.Comment

Re: World Series of Poker
Well I played single player a little and played a couple games online. In single player career you create yourself with the THUG player creator allegedly but the create a player is pretty bare bones imo. It's slightly better than the WCP player creator. One cool thing I noticed about the create a player is that after you win a wsop bracelet you can have your character wear it while playing. In career mode you can play 10 years to see how many wsop bracelets you can win. You start with a bankroll of $10K. You can play in satellites, various other games or take your 10K and go right to the wsop. The catch is though if you don't place in the money your bankroll is gone and then you may have to advance to year 2 of your career because you can no longer afford the buy in for tournaments/games(I'm not sure about this though).
The graphics imo are better than wcp but this is no Half Life 2 if you know what I mean. There really isn't a lot of commentary but it is nice to hear Lon Mcaeran every now and then. This adds to the authenticty of the game. There is another commentator with him(Not Norman Chad though, WTF!!) and he rarely says anything. The camera angles and overlays are pretty good especially during a showdown. The showdowns look just like they do on ESPN. Custom Soundtracks is also included in the game which is always a nice option but not in the game menus for some reason, only while playing.
I played two sit and go's online and playing this online is going to be a blast. The online portion of the game appears to be very well done. It has the standard create a match and optimatch options as most other games. Online is where I also noticed other venues than the single player game where I have seen the same poker room in three games. I found it very easy to find players online and get into a game very quickly. I had no problems of any kind while playing online.
If you enjoy poker I would say pick this game up. It probably should be only $20 but it does have the wsop license so I'm sure thats why its $30. They are trying to cash in on the poker boom. There is also a bunch of pros in the game such as Chris Ferguson, Scotty Nguyen, John Phan, Men the Master, Minneapolis Jim and about 5 others.Comment

Re: World Series of Poker
I have yet to play any of the pros yet so I don't know if they did voice work for the game. I'm noticing that there is only commentatory in wsop events so in a way it makes you feel like your in a big tournament. How come Phil Ivey isn't in any of these games that are out or upcoming poker games? I have noticed there doesn't seem to be a difficulty setting for the game but so far after one day I find the ai to be very good for the most part. I have tested the computer a few times by going on all in in various spots and sometimes they fold their hand and other times they will call me with very strong hands and call my bluff. I think this game will tie me over until the WPT game and stacked come out. I expect both of these games to be excellent.Comment

Re: World Series of Poker
So far online is pretty fun. I was laughing my butt off a little while ago at some of the comments being made. There have been some games where there were a couple idiots playing and calling other players names when thay were called or raised. Other than that it's been fun.Joshua:

Re: World Series of Poker
Should be less of it. I don't see why idiots like those guys would even bother buying the game,it's free on here.
Is it just single table tournys or is there multi? If there's multi will they make you change tables? A freeroll today I was playing with what must've been the worst player in the world but got moved shortly after catching what he was doing (wich got him a lot of chips so I guess no one else caught it) and only got to cash in on him once so was a bit annoyed I got moved.
Legal curiousity. I was disconnected during the last free roll and thought about this.(when I came back I had moved up 3 spots so it wasn't that bad) Say you're playing a real money game online, full table, everyone has 1000$. You get AK suited in spades on the button, raise up to 200$,2 players call. Flop comes out 10,J,Q of spades giving you the garunteed win. 1st guy goes all-in,2nd guy calls gets to you but before you can call you get disconnected. Could you sue the internet company for the money you would've won or even the 200$ you lost and win the case? In a normal situation where say there was no all-in but you were going to call after the flop with a differnt hand I'm pretty sure you couldn't win the lawsuit because you can't be sure you would've won but in this case there was no way you could lose the hand.Comment
