Understand what you're saying, but video game graphics can only go so far. After 5-6 years of Xbox 360, how will video game look? I don't think we'll ever see something that looks exactly like real life. I'm not shocked that the gap btwn Xbox and 360 is not a huge quantum leap.

I think he's saying that the leap from XBOX graphics to 360 graphics should be greater. It should have that "WOW" effect on you. Knee buckling type visuals.

I agree, but also agree that it will take time for the developers to understand and get comfortable with all the hardware.

First generations games are never fully programmed to the consoles capability. We all knwo this yet there are always "Not worth it" posts.
I for one have a 57" HDTV and can not wait to fire up my 360. Even just playing the demo at Walmart was enough for me to know it was a must buy.
What puzzles me the most though are people that cream over Madden and say they are very satisified with the first effort etc.. but then say the 360 isn't a big enough jump to warrant a purchase.

The Xbox is mereley a PC in a box. The Hardrive is a 20GB 2.5" Serial ATA Samsung notebook hard drive running at 5400RPM, Despite the fact that the 360 has a robust design and integrated hardware, it is still a PC. If it wasnt for the fact that they made the Power Supply External the Xbox 360 would have been even bigger then the Xbox 1, Take something that big out of the casing and it's bound to be smaller.. some Fanboys are just dumb and uninformend. A custom built CPU with ATI GPU? Yawn

Save your money and buy some of the quality titles that you haven't played on your current system. The 360 will still be there in 12 months time, at a cheaper price, and with better games, so why pay more now for less? Rule of the thumb is don't buy a system unless you can pinpoint at least three games on it that you MUST HAVE!! Take your time to expierience the top quality titles of the current generation, before moving onto the next.

The COD 2 demo sure had the "WOW" affect on me. Besides how can everyone say oh not near what i thought it was going to be when no one has even played a final build of a game yet.

There's going to be hits and misses, especially early on in the run. Plus, expectations are on a different level than last time with the PS2 because of stuff like CGI.

Sorry, but I can't stand current gen graphics anymore. Let's not go overboard and say the 360 looks like crap. The games look beautiful. King Kong for instance was beautiful visually.

I played the hell out of the demo over the course of the past week, and even watched all the videos, as well.

As some one who is almost 30 and who has gamed sinced the 2600, I have to say that I've never been more underwhelmed with a new console, than the XBOX 360. Even on an HDTV, most of the demo games and vids look BARELY better than what can be seen on an XBOX.

I give props to COD2 for being a great game, but it by no means even close to next gen. I mean, there is terrible clipping and stupid AI all over that title. Best war shooter I've played, but it really feels just like "another" great shooter for the XBOX, not some kind of next gen leap.

I think that King Kong looks very solid, but I don't dig the way it plays. Pretty simplistic, and nothing new at all.

Kameo is a fun title . . . but again, just like COD2, it feels exactly like an XBOX game.

As for the vids, the only ones that really got me hyped were Gears of War and the Sega driving game (I forgot the title - sorry). The graphics on those games looked TRULY next gen, no doubt about it. The others, though, looked like nice, or even ugly, XBOX games. Not even PGR3 was impressive, graphically. As a hardcore sports gamer, I actually got upset while watching the NHL 2K6 and NBA 2K6 vids. Just pathetic graphics for what is supposed to be a whole new generation (on which you'd be plunking down $400 to buy).

My philosophy is that you are supposed to be WOWed by a next gen system. It happened to me since every generation jump from the 2600 onward. I remember playing the first Madden on PS2. I couldn't fn believe what I saw.

I guess this is not going to hold true on the XBOX 360, or even the PS3, as you really have to look hard for the improvements in the games, graphically. And as far as innovative gameplay is concerned, I haven't found it.

Although I regret cancelling my 360 preorder (due to the fact I could make some good $$$ on ebay), I by no means want that console right now . .. I'll stick with the current gen until the price comes down and the developers get a better grasp on the hardware. I'm crossing my fingers that the PS3 will blow me away, but somehow I don't think that's going to happen, either.

We'll see.

Bottom line is that the 360 is most definitely NOT worth killing yourself or your bank account for at this stage in the game.

I haven't seen on ulgy game for the 360 yet, so I can't say I agree with you there. Anyway all you wrote is just one mans opinion and thats all, I getting my 360 and as tuesday comes closer I getting more excited as I did when the first spoke about the 360. The 360 is a powerful system no doubt, the games that are coimg out look great to me, I may not like them all but they look great to me in my opinion, I;m just not going to sike my self out like most of you guys are doing to your self, The system is new and I know I can't expect the games to be all great, it not easy to make a game right off the bat for a new console, So I know I will expect a whole lot more come next year, and If I'm not completey blown away next year, then I'll be quite upset. Not know thought, I'm just happy to e playing again on tueday, some guys now are not getting the 360 because of not owning an HDTV, I'm sorry to hear that, but I just think some guy's are taking some shots at the 360 now because there a little upset that you would be seeing the 360 in full force without an HDTV. I say not having an HDTV should not stop you from buying the 360, It will still look good. Anyway I'm done, Peace.

I played Tiger Woods at Gamestop at lunch. It's the prettiest golf game i've ever seen on a console. However, i know the difficulty level may be been easy but I birdied the first hole and eagled the second.

This is not a flame, so please don't take it as one. I'm just wondering why people are so psyched about the 360 when most of you are admitting that the games won't be that great at first. Are the graphics so important that you have to have one right out of the gate? I don't know. I'm just having a hard time justifying over $500 to myself for a system that, at the moment, is offering games (i.e. NBA 2K6 and TW 2006) that, aside from better graphics, are actually taking things away. I'm sure that developers will improve the games, but it's going to take a little while.

The 64 thousand dollar question for everyone is: What are you most excited about with the 360 (the thing that makes you want to stand in line or pay top dollar right away to get one)?

Because it's "what's next".
No system launch has really ever delivered great games out of the box. It always takes a while for developers to get full power of system into the games. With that said, IMO, the 360 launch is one of the , if not THE, best launch lineups ever.
