I am pretty sure the employee was in fact wrong. Think about why they only started doing the preorders like 2 days ago. It was because they were not sure how many units they were going to get, and they wanted to avoid all the issues they had with the PS2 launch with their preorders-the same exact thing all the Gamestop's and EB's are having to deal with now.

I would bet money that you will get one on launch day, but I would call tomorrow and check it out just for peace of mind.

I was also told that I was not guaranteed an xbox360 at launch when I preordered one today at TRU, even though I was under the impression I was. There seemed to a fair amount of preorder cards left, but the guy said it was on a first come first serve basis and he couldn't guarantee me one. I assumed him wrong and preordered anyways.

yeah thats what they told me too. I don't think I will get it thought. I remember that origanal xbox came with a sweet warranty for $50 for 2 years, the paper was inside the box when you opened it. I'm sure the 360 will have some type of warranty for the 360. I just wait and see for that one.

Thanks to this site, I will not be going to jail for killing a host of EB employees. Was away for a few days and saw the stories of EB getting shortchanged and Toy R Us taking pre-orders. While I figured, if I wasn't going to get my pre-order from EB they would call me, I decided to call this morning. They had told me previously they were getting 150 units. This morning I was told 20 and I was 40 on the list. I'd be lucky to get the system by January.

Drove to Toys R Us and was still able to pre-order the system and the three games. Thank god. I would have been pissed off if I had to wait.

Tomorrow, I'm getting my money back from EB games. Just hope I get the full amount of credit since I had returned a lot of games to get the store credit.

Thanks again to everyone who posted about the shortage at EB and the pre-sale at Toys R Us.

I agree, don't give up - the TRU i pre-ordered from didn't have a clue about the preorders until the manager gave them the box of preorder materials on Sunday AM. I had checked with all of my local TRU's on Saturday and not ONE was selling preorders, yet I could see from this thread that peeps all over the country were getting theirs. Your TRU might just be a little slow, so persistence might just pay off for you. Good luck!!

Well, I just called Ritzcamera again :y4:

This time, they said that they don't know if I'll be on launch or not, because until they receive the units from Microsoft, they won't know how many they're getting... so that has pretty much stunk up my day, lol.

I'm getting ready to call Toys R Us again.

Just got a call from my EB. Ill be getting one on launch. They dont know if they will do a midnight release or not though =/
