Rules,

Remember there is a grace period regarding products around the Christmas season. Please see Tickle Me Elmo, Furbee, Cabbage Patch Kids. The 360 is the must have toy for the season. I think if hardcore users can't find one in January that's the consumer breaking point.

Plus you have to remember that hardcore gamers aren't the the only ones seeking a 360 because of the holiday season. The hardcore users might have been the ones standing outside on launch day but now everyone is looking for the box.

Like I said, it hasn't reached critical mass yet.

I just don't see Japan being interested. The games came up short probably in the type of interest that Japan usually has. They're not into half of those games that we're playing probably which really turns them off. When is there launch overseas? I kind of want to see a better footing by Microsoft over there. That way, more Japanese developers will start making great games and probably end up tossing us some memorable exclusives for the 360. I just don't see Microsoft getting as much footing as they think they can. Japan just seems so unmoved. Maybe the media is portraying that. Have any of you guys seen any news on overseas gamers catching fire for the company or their system?

The point is, in order for Microsoft to continue providing for their US Market they need the Japanese market to be interested in their product.

No console can survive in American ground only.

Jrod~ I agree with what you are saying but I think MS is fighting a lost cause in Japan as they continue to speak out against buying it. If MS could build a huge base in the US and Europe right now, they could hold onto the market share longer and putting pressure on Sony to catch up. Sony will surpass Microsoft's Japanese base in one day once the PS3 is released. However, where Microsoft is failing, they are also succeeding in my book.

Failing:
1) Being unable to quickly meet the demand in the US and in Europe will turn many gamers off. Many will opt to get something else this holiday season and this is where Microsoft could have blanketed the market with 360 systems.

Succeeding:
2) Xbox Live~ Sony doesn't stand a chance as Microsoft has been brilliant on this front. Their established base is getting stronger and stronger! With the inclusion of Xbox Live Market, gamers will now have more creativity and options than ever before.

There is a high demand for the Xbox 360 but how long before the hype and frustration set in for consumers who really wanted to get one for a friend, family member, or themselves? My take on this whole launch is the US and Europe are Microsoft's bread and butter. Short supplying those who would have bought it versus going after a small share in Japan is a mistake. Microsoft lost the console war in Japan big time during the Xbox, Gamecube, and PS2 battle. Why devote more money, systems, and time into an area that repeatedly has no interest in their company, games, or system?

I really dont belive anything that is out their, till i get a call saying my xbox is in. I was @ my GS the week before the 360 came out. The manager @ my gamespot told me they were going to to get 2-3 every couple of days after the release. and i went their last night to see how thing's are coming along. And he told me that they have gotten only one in since and i was talking to the store manager. And he told me that they know their getting some in the middle of this month and dont know how many their going to get.

so like i said before i dont belive a thing that is being told till i get the call to pick my 360.

That my gamespot was going to to get 2-3 every couple of days . and i went their last night to see how thing are coming along. Analyst: 300k Xbox 360s to Ship This Week

American Technology Research analyst P.J. McNealy expects that 300,000 more Xbox 360 units will ship this week in North America.

McNealy said that he expects the console to sell just over 1.5 million units by the end of December, which puts Microsoft on track with their goal.

Hopefully this is true. If it is, who wants to bet that Gamestop and EB manage to get their hands on only a few, half of which they promptly put into $1000 online bundles rather then filling the pre-orders they took.
