doubtful. In theory, yes, bluray discs are affected by scratches since the data is closer to the surface. However, bluray is required to have scratch resistant coating as a standard. This supposedly will make it more resistant to scratches than DVD's are now.
Releasing a format meant to become the new standard that is ruined by fingerprints or tiny scratches would be ********. Even if the mega protection hype is wrong, like the statements that you can use brilo pads or screwdrivers to scratch bluray disks and they still work, the bluray will at least be as scratch resistant as DVD's are now.
