I really hope you are kidding. Otherwise please stop so much.

In America Sony is finally in a position where they are no longer sitting on top of that throne all alone. MS is making leaps and bounds and Sony needs to compete harder. MS has a grasp of the online world that Sony may never get. The PS3 is nothing more than vaporware to me at this pont. It will take a lot at E3 and a good price point to convince me to jump onboard when the machine launches. I am verrry happy with my 360 and every day that Sony delays it becomes harder to justify a second next-gen machine.

1-I don't care if your happy with your 360

      2-I don't care if you buy a PS3

If the price is reasonable say no more than $600 then i'll buy it. I agree with you and for all the bashing MS took over the Xbox 360 launch it was on purpose and I believe they would probably do it all over again. They have forced and put Sony in a big box that now Sony is having trouble getting out of. MS would love for the actual cost numbers to be accurate ($700-$900) in producing a PS3. And they hope Sony does sell it for $400-$600. IMO Sony got a little too cute with the PS3 specs features that may or may not be gameplay related and that's what's driving up the cost. I will LMAO if the first or second run PS3 titles are on DVD form instead of BR.

You can buy a PC for that price. Since when is $600 for a video game console been "reasonable".

I had NO problems with the price of the 360 as it's bascially a Triple CPU Dual Core PowerMac and if it were available it would be much higher than $400. As for the PS3 or any gaming console I always use the following formula.

How much would a video card cost me to produce graphics like these? In the case of the 360 it would probably take the new ATi X1900XTX which goes for about $600.

I just built a high spec AMD gaming rig and it cost more than $600. That's using a AMD64 4000+ Clawhammer CPU, Sapphire X800 GTO2, 2 gigs of Mushkin PC3200, Asus nForce 4 A8N5X mobo and a new Gigabyte gaming case.

WRT the PS3 i'll be asking the same questions how much will it cost me to produce those graphics on a PC. That's my criteria so for me $600 ain't out of line. Plus there's some first run PS3 titles i'm really looking forward too.

I agree. They started getting too cute with the PS2 even. I don't want my gaming system to handle digital pictures, download music etc. I have a computer for that. I just want a gaming machine that's not outrageously expensive. Cut the fat please.

If this is anywhere near the truth, then Sony is just crazy.

It looks like I will be waiting a couple years for the PS3.

Comments from the article. The article features Howard Stringer, CEO-Sony.

Sony's new PlayStation 3 was widely expected to be introduced this spring, but will be delayed as the company fine-tunes the chips that are crucial to the success of the console's Blu-ray function.

Sony will roll out the PS3 by year end, in time for the holidays. If PS3 "delivers what everyone thinks it will, the game is up," Stringer boasts.

I'm not trying to start a flame war, just stating the obvious...

If Sony had delivered the Emotion Engine with the PS2 (like they promised) then the game would have been over.

But thats the problem with Sony. No one knows what to expect, because of their history.
