It'll be interesting to see what Sony does with their delays and price.
It's smart to hold the system back until it's fully ready and plentiful, but despite the Xbox 360's horribly botched launch, if they get nearly a full calendar year of lead time, and come in far cheaper, it could create some headaches for Sony.

The PS3 will be a more powerful piece of hardware - I have no doubts about that - but the two systems are still same-gen in terms of technology.

I just want good games, and I want a battle royale between the two companies so consumers get the best of both worlds.

That's what I'm trying to say. But people actually listen to you so I'll just go on vacation for awhile.

Who cares. People are still going to buy it no matter how much it costs or when it releases (outside of OS anyway). We're all just a bunch of jacks who don't know **** until Sony comes out of the closet and says something.

People are still going to buy it no matter how much it costs or when it releases (outside of OS anyway).

Call me crazy, but I still don't think little Johnny's mom is going to shell out $650-$700 on a PS3 and a game. Especially since there is a good chance that little Johnny may already have an xbox 360 if the PS3 comes out a year after the 360. Of course most of the die hard gamers will buy the PS3, maybe including myself depending on the price, but I don't think the mainstream soccer mom's of the world will.

Yes, that is why I said "We're," not "You're." I don't claim to know more about what's going on than anybody else. I'm known to have a lot of passion for things in my life I'm optimistic about. That's just me.

Whether or not the cost makes or breaks the system really depends on if the PS3 lives up to it's price tag. It has to prove itself first. If it does, buyers won't have a problem dropping $500 plus on it.

Sony has their act together. A delay is good. It means they are working on it and making it a better product. I think the last thing they want to do is rush it out and go through what Microsoft is currently experiencing. If/when Sony announces a delay, I'm sure they'll state why and people will realize it's for the best.

Actually that is an incorrect statement. When it comes to toys, price can matter. When DVD first came out it was wonderful but it didn't really take off (as far as sales, mainstream acceptance, etc) until the price dropped. Sony needs to keep the price affordable. It's a fair guess that they will market this thing as more of a Blue-Ray player that does games then the opposite.

This story from Gamespot says that the Blue-Ray drive is a large part of the problem. I also believe that the system is more difficult to develop for then they hoped and is causing headaches for programmers.
