I read that the run of the mill Gamestop/EB Games will get 6 PS3s for their allocation with 2 for store employees. Bigger cities to get 18. Anyone else hear that?

That sounds about right except 16 is the most stores will see with high traffic. I'm first on the list so it doesn't matter i'm getting one.

Didn't they say that you aren't guranteed one even if you preordered? You're still going to have to wait in line unless you know someone who works at a eb games.

That is just a disclaimer in case, EB gets 9 instead of 10 and the 10th person pitches a fit. At the EB that I preordered at they said that they were guaranteed 12 but may get more. They only took 12 preorders though.

Out of those preorders the first to pay in full jumps in line. I was the last to preorder a 360 last year, and the first to pay in full. I jumped to the first in line.

It's a disclaimer as they expect the same amount systems from Sony to match yesterdays preorders to arrive on launch day. It's a CYA that's all.

And yes I do someone at EB infact the night before I gave him an envelope my $100 with name, rank and serial number and he preordered the system before he opened the store the fgollowing day. I am first on the list so i'm guaranteed a system with the other 7 preorders and I didn't have to wait in line.

I asked my friend that question who's a store manager and he said NO not in this case as you have 24 hours to pickup your system and it doesn't have to be paid in full. If you don't buy it within 24 hours they'll sell it to anyone who comes into the store asking for one.

This is a special preorder list as only those on that list are guaranteed *cough* CYA *cough* one on launch day.

It's the news you've all been waiting for! Sony's long-awaited new console, the PlayStation 3, is now confirmed to ship November 17 of this year in two flavors. The core model will retail for $499 and contain a 20GB upgradeable hard drive, Blu-ray drive, HDMI port for high definition visuals, and Bluetooth wireless controllers. The premium model will retail for $599 and in addition to the features of the core model contains flash card readers, WiFi wireless networking, and silver exterior trim. well, apparently I was more tired than I thought when I posted that last night. Someone else posted it on MM as though the prices were 399 & 499... I went to bed, couldnt sleep so I came back down and posted it, not reading it very thorough the second time. But before it did say it was 399 & 499... not sure if it was a hacker or a bored employee or actually early posted info. We might find out next week at the Sony convention in San Francisco...

anyway, sorry bout that, nothing to see here... move along.

Fantavision Spotted on PS3...First PS2 Title Tested BC

That's Fantavision running through backwards compatibility on the PlayStation 3. This would appear to be our first look at a PS2 game running on the PS3.

Sadly, the IT Media article doesn't provide details on how the backwards compatibility works. It's still unknown if the PS3 will improve the PS2 gaming experience through visual tricks or improved loading, which is an effect that many enjoyed when using PlayStation games on the PS2.
