Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion discussion Part II

This game sounds awesome, can someone answer a few questions to help me decide. I would rent, but I would be mad if I wanted to buy afterwards and just spent 5 bucks at bucks at Blockbuster. Thats a 65 dollar game.

    1. Is the action turn-based?
    2. Is there any blood and gore?
    3. How high is the replay value?
    4. Do you get people that fight with you? (NPCs I think)
    5. Do dead bodies vanish? or can you tell you been to this pace before?
    6. Is it better than KOTOR?

    Thanks

You can buy lockpicks from a guy right outside of the stables outside of Imperial City. His name is Shady Sam or something like that, he is standing against the city walls.

You can also buy them if you join the Thieves guild. You can buy lock picks by the hundreds from any of the guild fences.

On another note, After going through the thieves guild questline and starting the Dark Brotherhood line I must say those are some of the best lines there are. Especially the last Thieves guild one.

Yea, this years game is a bit meh in terms of how the dialog tree goes. I guess since everything is voiced out, there is'nt as many choices. At least its not the overwhelming amount that you saw in Morrowind. You could ask a NPC up to 40 diffrent themes.

another addict...i get kinda busy with stuff in a week or so, so i'm getting in all the Oblivion I can right now lol...

at some point I'll have to start moving on the main storyline, i've just been so entranced by guild stuff and random quests that it's easy to forget that stuff.

I'm glad it's not like that, that would be a little overwhelming to me.

                    How do you cure it?

The dead bodies don't vanish, as far as I can tell.

They seem to stick around forever as well as whatever stuff was on them when they died. I've left armor lying around on the ground after battles and it's there many days later in the game. Makes me want to spend a little while figuring out how to get a house so I can build a pile of loot.

After a while, in Morrowind, you learned what questions to ask and which ones to skip. You knew if someone was gonna say anything relevant to your current quest just by clicking on them. Its much streamlined this year and the fact that many choices are grayed out helps a lot. And I also agree about the persuasion mini game, its stupid. I hate it but its vital if you dont want to throw money at ppl.

As for Baldur's gate, I'm sort of happy its not like Baldurs. The ppl did'nt know when to shut up. I could easily spend an hour in one tavern talking to NPCs cause they all have something diffrent to say. Then every topic branches off to another...than another...It was'nt bad but it was really tedious. Especially if you were itching to kill.

If its like Morrowind, they vanish after a certain number of days. I doubt that they'll stay around forever as all of those bodies would really kill the memory resources and would in turn kill the framerate. I dont know, with all the resources the 360 sopposedly has, it would be cool if they stayed around forever.

As for armor, weapons and items, those stay around forever if droped on the ground.
