Re: Nintendo Wii (Revolution) Information, hardware, games discussion

If EB has a trade in special like $50 or $60 bucks for my GameCube then it's a done deal, I'll buy it.

At that point it'll put me back at the $200 price with a game thrown in, plus it'll play all my Cube games which i'm not selling.

Gamestop gave me $25 for my Gamecube yesterday. I went ahead and got a 360. I am going to wait and see what happens with the Wii. If it works well and the price drops I will get one next year. I think it has a great potential and is an excellent idea, but I went in a different direction.

They've dropped the trade in value for the cube to 25.00.

Anyone know what Gamestop/EB is offering for an Xbox on trade-in these days? I'm almost certainly going to go the eBay route when I sell my Xbox to fund my next console, but I just want to make sure that GS/EB isn't offering a comparable trade-in price.

          Take care,

You can get over $100 on ebay for the XBOX.

And the price will keep going up as there's still a demand for the Xbox and they are hard to find. I saw someone on either Amazon or ebay selling a brand new sealed Xbox for $549.

I plan on keeping mine as I still have alot of Xbox games.

Since their not making this system new anymore, people are paying top dollar for it on ebay.

                      I see XBox's everywhere...Walmart, Target, EB, etc.

And I don't know what you consider top dollar, but most are between 70-105.

Top dollar for me is seeing people get up to $150 (used) for the system alone on ebay and some sealed XBOX's going for over $200. People will pay anything on ebay.

All of the Walmart's, Best Buy's, Targets, EB's, Gamestop's by me don't sell the XBOX brand new anymore. That's really cool that there are new ones still availalbe by you. You can only find used ones around here.

ebay can be a bad barometer to measure something's worth. A lot of sellers have their friends bid on their items to drive the price up. I'd be very skeptical of anything over $120 on ebay.

Yeah I'm keeping mine too. I almost have all the money I need for a premium 360 so I don't need to sell it.

um..no sorry. It can be used to measure fair value for a product. Just checking right now, there's over 1300 xbox console auctions up right now. I'd say there's plenty to judge fair price by, as the highest price with bundled games is $250.

for as much negative press ebay gets, the horrible sellers are in the minority. I sold my xbox for $150 months ago. That's not counting what I got for the games I sold in a different auction and the halo 2 controller that I sold in another.

Interesting article on the Wii and Nintendo's business model. Obviously a pro Nintendo site but its a long and interesting read as to what is wrong with the Sony and MS business model and why the Wii will be successful.

It actually points out that Nintendo is not the one desperate for next-gen to succeed but rather Sony and MS. Nintendo always makes money, even if profits are reduced. MS lost 4 billion on the XBox and are searching for ways to make money outside of Windows and Office in a drying up PC market. Sony is desperate to have Blue Ray succeed and turn around declining fortunes. Hadn't thought of it like that.

(I posted this in a separate thread but I figure I'll just re-post it here).
