Nice idea Skyboxer, using the nunchucks as a the lightsaber.

Re: Nintendo Wii (Revolution) Information, hardware, games discussion

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is coming to the Wii.

It's based on the RE4 engine and gameplay and the story features levels from RE 1, 2, 3 and 4. Pretty much every RE character is in the game and playable at some point.

A little disappointing that they are rehashing bits of the older games, but I'm a huge RE fan so it'll be good fun uncovering the Umbrella secrets and connection to the RE4 story.

Plus, with the gameplay being similar to RE4 it will be awesome using the Wiimote to aim and shoot. The quicktime events apparantly use Wiimote and Nunchuck gestures too.

The Famitsu magazine I grabbed last month when I was in Japan had some scans of the game. I haven't seen, but surely some site has the scans.

So, how is the wireless/online gaming going to work exactly?

I'm hearing from different message boards that I have gone to this morning, that stores are only taking about 6-10 preorders each on the Wii. I wonder if Gamestop/EB's are only getting the lower amounts and stores like Best Buy will see the larger allocations like the 360.

I doubt it actually. My GS got 18 in. Another local one got in 24. All of which blown out in seconds.

Could Nintendo be making a huge comeback here in the U.S. with the Wii?

I'm not basing this off of the pre-orders being sold out so quick, but the price is about right, those that already have a next gen system could be looking for an alternative. This will be interesting a year from now to see how everything pans out.

Maybe a console comeback, but Nintendo is the most profitable of the three gaming hardware manufacturers (Ninny, MS, Sony) because it DESTROYS all competition in the handheld market.

Plus Nintendo's first-party exclusives for consoles and handhelds are goldmines.

                        Take care,

After seeing today, here's my guess, Nintendo finishes no worse than 2nd this go round. Not saying which company will finish 3rd, as I have no idea. But Nintendo seems to have won a lot of people over, including myself. The DS is what did it for me, it proved to me, once again, graphics aren't everything and I will have a blast with the Wii.

I also think that Nintendo will finish 2nd. It leaves either MS or SONY at #1, at this rate I think that if MS plays their cards right that they can be #1 this generation.

There will be many this season that can't get their hands on a PS3 or Wii, and the only other option will be the 360 if they don't feel like waiting.

That is the reason as to why their still around after all these years. The dust has settled in the 80's, 90', and 00's and Nintendo is still in the console race while companies have dropped out.

I'm with EG here: I think the Wii is going to be a sleeper hit for Nintendo. Nothing that blows the doors off $$$-wise, but rather marketshare and recognition. Heck, ever since I got my DS, the Wii has been my radar. While a 360 would be nice, I have an XBox1 and my wife hardly plays it.

On the other hand, she plays the DS daily, and because of that, she just bought me a new black DS yesterday so I can play again (she felt bad that she "stole" mine). I know she would have a fit if I came home with a 360 (and I'd be ticked off myself if I spent the $$$ on the ps3), but every time I bring up the Wii, she gets intrigued (okay...that last part of the sentence just sounded WRONG).

                                Anyways......

I lost faith in Nintendo with the N64. I had a NES and SNES, but then got a ps1, DC, ps2, and XBox before getting a DS Lite.

Let's just say, "I've seen the Lite"
