Originally posted by caseydYeah, all my friends that don't have XBoxes are telling me to open it too. The overwhelming opinion seems to be go for it. For those that have an optical audio cable from the original XBox, does that cable work with the 360? I think they're pretty standard, so it should.Comment

One can only hope. I created a japanese profile on my 360 and if it's verified that it works with that, then I'll import it.Comment

I would stick with a PC. I don't know your specs, but a potentially a $200 graphics card upgrade will run Oblivion, COD 2, and GRAW when it is released for the PC in May. Those seem to be the most talked about games right now on the 360 and they are all on or will be available on the PC.
I have both COD 2 and Oblivion on the PC and will get GRAW on the PC when it comes out. Oblivion alone would provide you with hundreds of hours of gameplay. Let alone mulitplayer COD 2.Comment

Update: Unopened box still sitting on the table. lol
I really do need to make a decision. My mom is having some major financial difficulties, so we're going to pay her bills for a couple months. I came home and told my wife I was going to take the 360 back (somewhat because of that). She actually got mad at me. She says that I better not to do that, especially because of the other situation. I'm actually a little surprised she hasn't opened the box for me yet. I put my XBox on the work bulletin board. If someone buys it, I will definitely open the 360.Mario Kart Wii: 1203 9969 5095

you can only do what is right for you.. again for me, i have no "major obligations" in my life right now - ie kids, a wife, house, etc, so i cant really say a "yes" or "no" answer... the 360 will be around for a time also, so you could always get one later on if you decided to take this one back.. decisions, decisions///Comment

Re: Should I get it (XBox 360) as an impulse buy?
Originally posted by pk500Plus I still don't think the 360 games library is that robust, especially for sports games. Great graphics, but stripped-down franchise, create-a-player and management features, which is pretty much standard for the first generation of games for any new system.
Like I said, I'm not trying to carry over the other argument...this is just an incorrect statement. I can understand how you can make it though, since you have never owned a 360 or any of their games.Comment

Open it! I can see what your wife is saying,by doing that you're not going to have money for other fun so you'd better open this now. I hated Morrowind and like Oblivion that should tell you how good it is.
NBA Live doesn't have all the features of the Xbox verision. No allstar weekend or whatever that other thing is they have, showtime mode? superstar abilty?...I don't remember the name of it but the point is it's not there.Comment

I don't really want to upgrade my video card for $250 in order to play this one though.

Granted the games are 10 bucks more, just be a little more selective.
Madden and NBA live were the only stripped down versions of sports games. ALL the 2k games had the same stuff. Tiger was good.
My PC is running a Geforce 6800GT and Oblvion on a NON-HDTV still looks better than my current video card. From the refelections, HDR lighting, water effects, etc. Think of like this.... the 360 version is like running it on 2 Geforce 7800s in SLI. Yes, it's sitll got some hiccups here and there, but it does on the PC as well. The only plus side for the PC is the MODs.f
Seriously, take your wives advice, open the system.
Play it... you'll think "why did I do that" for about 3 days, and then something will hit you... "that wasn't was a bad idea afterall."

Re: Should I get it (XBox 360) as an impulse buy?
Have you played yet? I'm debating buying one this weekend. I'm turning 30 something and a new system would help fight the reality of my age.
I'm fired up for a baseball game and it sounds like the 2k6 for Xbox stinks. Someone at work offered me $100 for my xBox so I might take the money and buy the 360.
This Oblivion game I keep readin about sounds pretty cool, too.
