Yeah, I'll be using it for Madden, but I thought EA would be releasing roster updates through XBL?

EA and 2K have been bad with roster updates on their games.

        Ahh, okay.

Since I didnt have an Xbox or a 360 for the last run of sports titles, I had no idea about that. Thanks man. Guess I'll have to go buy a memory card. A lot of places around here are out of the transfer kit. Any suggestions on where to get it?

          IGN Review is up:

          7.7

          Conclusion
Datel's XSATA is a sleek solution for accessing the 360's HDD from a PC. It fits nicely on the 360, and if you keep the console near your PC you'll have access any time you like. If getting your hands a little dirty in order to download saves from the net or reclaim your old Xbox saves sounds like something you'd like, the XSATA is solid product. The ability to back up the 360's HDD may also be a boon if your 360 eventually bites the dust and you have to return it and lose all your saves. Over time it'll also be a solution for freeing up space on the crowded 12GB or so the 360 saves for user files.

            Datel XSATA

Does anyone have the Datel XSATA? Seen it in stores? I'd rather get this than the transfer kit, but I've heard little about anyone having this or using it.

              Re: Datel XSATA

Do not waste your money on it if you want to use it for rosters. I would suggest the transfer kit. I bought the XSATA and good lord did I have problems with it.

First off you cant even transfer roster files using it. It will not let you transfer any .z36 files which are almost always the roster files that are on here.

Second it is a pain to hook up to your hard drive. You have to be very careful or else you could brake your hard drive.

To top it off the connection port on the XSATA broke when I pluged the USB cable in. So I suggest just getting the transfer kit. It is much easier to work with.

Re: XSATA - The Ultimate XB360 PC/HD transfer device

DO NOT BUY! Heres my horror story, my asking for help over on MN.

[quote]Wow. I never thought i would have this much trouble. I got Datel's XSATA home, set it up correctly and everything. Installed the xplorer360 that was on the disc that came with XSATA. So i plug it in to the 360 and everything is working as planned. I start to backup my 360 hard drive but i know my little laptop cant handle it so i stop and decide i will just take my chances and get the NCAA file and try to get it onto my 360. So i open the user guide that comes with XSATA, i skip the backup part, read about how the HD is organized, etc. It looks pretty easy. So i go to the section on how to actually get the file on the HD. You use the 6 numbered folders or whatever from 360gamesaves.com, thats the one you insert, not the profile folder. So i understand all this and it "injects" it onto the hard drive (as they call it in the tutorial/user guide). So i am like, great! I unplug the usb from my (xp by the way) laptop, and go to file management on NCAA. I go to roster, nothing. No file. So i go to the dashboard, system>memory>games>ncaa 07> it shows the damn PSX rosters file! (yes i used psx just for the time being, sorry). HOWEVER! it says "file size: 0 bytes" This is not good. So i try again, nothing, i delete the entire ncaa 07 folder, start over, sitll no luck, i download the new version of xplorer360, errors, i know that was stupid because the xplorer360 on the disc from XSATA was geared FOR XSATA. so i uninstall beta 5 and go back to the disc. This is basically where i am now. I have tried sending the file a few times before i reinstalled the xsata geared xplorer360, and i either got errors or actually the file size was huge like 2485858 GB (yes GB) and then u click for more info and it says 0 bytes. I even had a negative 2854338 GB. So i dont know, i got rid of that. the file is formatted for xplorer360 however it was converted from xchange360 on 360gamesaves.com somehow. I THINK some people over there said they got it to work, but others defiantly didnt, dont know what they were using to get it there other then xplorer360. one problem i saw was the file name had a dash in it. I know on windows computers dashes always create problems, but i wasnt sure that was the source of the problem sense it sounded like maybe some others had downloaded the file and gotten it to work.

So basically thats my story and my problem. Here are the ideas i have-

first when i get home i am going to try to send the file again now that i am back to the "360 geared xplorer360", follow the directions again, but before sending it renaming the PSX roster file so it doesnt have a dash i guess (if there is a format i should know for 360 files then please let me know).

I could return XSATA or keep it if best buy wont take it, i have all the stuff just not exactly probably in new condition and getting XSATA off my 360 should be interesting (from what ive heard its not pleasant or very kind to that side of the 360). Any tips on taking it off would be great too.

try xchange360 SOFTWARE instead of xplorer360? Maybe? how? where can i get it? Is there xchange360 software or is it just that product xchange360?

where can i get more help other then here if YOU cant help me?

should i just buy the transfer kit, but really is that going to solve my problems?

                      man this is a mess.[quote]

You can indeed transfer roster files. There is a utility called XIC at 360Gamesaves.com that allows to convert the z36 files (which are Xchange 360/transfer kit format) to a proper format for XSATA.

That is true but if you're careful there is no problem. It works quite well and is your only option if you want to transfer old XBOX saves to your 360.

I had to try installing the software twice to get my pc to recignize my 360 hard drive but now it works great.

I'm considering getting this device tomorrow to use for WE option files and have a few questions

                          1. Do you have to have the Hard drive attached to the XBOX to make it work or can you pull off the hard drive, attach the XSATA to it, hook it up to the computer and do files that way? My 360 is another room away from the computer.

                          2. Do I need to uninstall the transfer kit software for this to work?

                          Thanks for any replies

The hard drive has to be attached to the 360 as you need to turn on your 360 while your pc is connected to it to access the files. Just take your 360 to the room your pc is in to make the transfers. You only need to move the 360 and the power supply.

No. I have both installed and they both work fine.
