It'll be interesting to see if Sony uses a specialized HDMI cable (ie: fitting on one end only works with the PS3) or if you can use a standard one.Comment

With everything included I think is just right for the price, but I think that we are so used to paying $150-$400 for gaming machines over the last 25+ years that the $600 price tag is just not sitting right with hardcore gamers and this is just enough to chase away casual gamers. As for Kutaragi saying its too cheap, well he's probably right. With all the advaced technology that is included inside the PS3, I would expect that Sony is taking a hit on the PS3 just like every other gaming company that launches a new console.
Microsoft lost money on the Xbox and 360
Sony lost money on the PSOne and PS2 at launch. It wasn't until I think its fifth year out that the PS2 finally started turning a profit.
I love my 360. When Microsoft first released the XBox I refused to play it. And then I tried Halo. I was hooked from then on. I rarely touched my PS2. Now with PS3 losing GTA as an exclusive title, well they have nothing except yet another MGS game and a re-make of God of War with a female character. Sony has convinced me to not buy a PS3. I'll stick with the Wii60 combo for less money.Comment

Re: PS3 Too Cheap -- Kutaragi
Why would you want to buy a PS3 at launch? Where are the games? The sports titles will lokk the same. I have an HD tv but it doesn't support 1080p. I really don't care about blue ray dvds because I am happy with current format. I don't care about GT series or even the MGS series anymore. I am looking for new content.
I have owned ever system since 1996 (Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, N64, XBOX, XBOX 360, GBA, DS, Neo Geo Pocket etc) so I am not a fanboy but I will not buy a system for 600 bones. Can't see it.Comment

At the time, the 360 was available and I know if I waited for the PS3 to come out, I could have never sold the PS3 on her. Plus, I'm not one to go out and get the newest technology toy out there. Blu-Ray serves no purpose for us at this stage, and if it becomes mainstream, then I'll wait 3-5 years and purchase a stand alone player for $200 bucks, just like we did with our DVD player.
I wish Sony well as competition is good.Comment

I understand that some may be turned off because of the price, but I tell you what, there are numerous of phone calls asking when the PS3 pre-orders are going to take place. And its not by the same people. While people with the 360 will basically have no reason to purchase a PS3, there are numerous people who didn't find or buy a 360 simply because they wanted or waited to see the PS3. There are a lot of people that will be standing outside of stores come November 17th to purchase a PS3. It will sell, there is no reason to think that it won't. At least from my view point there isn't.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: PS3 Too Cheap -- Kutaragi
It is too cheap if you factor in the Blue Ray player, since a regular Blue Ray dvd player will be $1000 at first. But Sony is going to loose a lot of customers since most people don't have an HDTV, and the ones that do have one won't do 1080p. it will be interesting to see how they do in the USA. Shouldn't have any problems in Japan as most will look at it as a bargain Blue-Ray player. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Just out of curiousity, did you purchase a 360 at launch?
Because the 360 didn't have the greatest launch lineup, and its too early to tell with the PS3 because no game has been confirmed as a launch title. Those that I have been informed of that are tagged as launch titles are:
*Madden '07
*Warhawk
*a new SOCOM game (to help show off the new online service)
*WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007 (was just informed of this possibility today)
So there are 4 games in which 3 will be very good for the PS3, the lone exception being Madden. There will most likely be a shooter or two and some other titles will pop their way onto the launch list. We'll have to wait and see.
Almost forgot, Fight Night Round 3 is slated to be a launch game. So lets make the 4 for 5.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

DLP's just need a light to be replaced every 8000 or so hours (I have a DLP and it can be changed by the user).Comment

I also think that it's going to be hard for little Billy to convince his parents to spend $800 dollars for a system and one or two games. Sony's hubris is getting the best of them.
Well I don't know that there will be many launch titles that Little Billy's parents will want him to have anyways. Besides, the launch of the 360 and the PS3 are targeted toward college aged gamers and older. Thats what I was told at least.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
