I did like the game but I dont understand how anyone can say that this is a "refreshing change to the common FPS". Right when I started, the first gun you get in the game my mind instantly yelled Quake... Same as the design of the game yelled Quake/Doom. I thought the game was humorous with the way they made the aliens act (did anyone else notice the alien dancing to the music when you made it to the bar again? I couldnt stop laughing)... The thing is, I played this game back in January and back then it was called Quake.

Sure, there are new elements to the game like the portals, the wall walking and the spirit walk thing but theres just not enough new stuff for me to warrant a $60 purchase. The other thing im consideraly worried about is the online play. Ive heard more complaints than praise for the online in this demo (yes, it is a demo but it scares the *** out of me)... Same issues that Quake had online with the connection issues and the lag.

To make all of you happy I can say that this game has already been done, it has new ideas but the gameplay is still that of Unreal Championship, Unreal Tournament, Quake and Doom. I, however, may consider this title as a bargain bin price of $29.99 or lower, nothing more. I hope that the people who do get this game enjoy it, certain genres intrigue people better than others so I can respect that.

I've played a ton of FPS I didn't like. Quake, Doom etc etc...That doesn't make them bad games... I just personally didn't like them. I understand you're giving your opinion on the game and apparently that's how you feel so you have every right. I just don't see how this particular game (among the many many crappy games that have been made) could be considered one of the worst you've ever played. (assuming you've played quite a few)

But hey, who am I to argue your own opinion. So I guess you win.

The reason I say that is becuase of the controls and the lack of anything different. As I said in my first post, for those liking it, good. I'm not going to knock it for anyone that may like the game.

Isn't there typically a learning curve with controls when you start playing a new game ? It's not like the controls are unresponsive in the game. Actually for me it played very smoothly and I just had to get used to what buttons to hit.

Now, I didn't play it all the way thru so maybe there were issues later on with the controls. As for the game not being innovative in anyway I can certainly agree.

I looked for this demo yesterday and didn't see it...Is it under new releases?

Anyway, for me, I never finished either Halo, Doom etc...and have never played an on-line shooter, not even GRAW yet, so Sci-FPS isn't old stuff to me. Hopefully the controls aren't as bad as some are saying.

The Quake/Doom3 anology is good. Like I said before it's a been there done that type of FPS game. The genre has moved away from that in recent years because these types of games are fun online as opposed to SP.

The recent well done FPS have a good blend of Story and adventure i.e. Far Cry, Half Life 1&2 etc. that's were the FPS genre has moved to.

What hurts Prey IMO is that it's stuck in the 90's (game was supposed to released) and a story/gadgets have been added to make the game feel fresh. Unfortunately the game has 80% seen that already, been there done that to it.

*Note if this game had come out in '97-'98 it would have owned. Unforunately Quake 2/3/4, Unreal, UT, UT Championship came out while Prey was in development.

Agree 100%. It would have been a very cool game even 5 years ago.

But after playing for awhile I have started to feel a bit sick. Since I like to have fun while I play my games and not puke, I won't be picking this up.

Wow... I can't believe people are getting sick from this game. Guess if your body doesn't agree such is life. Personally, Prey is the game I've been secrectly waiting for and not knowing it Anyone who likes first person shooters should pick this up. Or, at least check out the demo I guess to make sure your weakarse can handle (kidding) The game looks very polished and very well done...

I like the game and will probably get it from Gamefly. The graphics were nice and IMO alot of good dialogue too. I enjoyed the demo...the single player portion. Now...the online had a great deal of lag and it was just weird having a deathmatch going through portals and upside down all of the time.

Talk to the characters using the right trigger (Action). Wait for the two low lifes to start hitting on Jen behind the bar. Use the wrench to beat the crap out of the two slugs. Go to the TV turn it on "Right Trigger", you'll get a news bulletin and the story will continues from there.

I thought the atmosphere was very immersive. It does feel alot like Doom 3.5 and the controls are a bit loose for my liking, but the environment is pretty convincing. Not great, not bad. Definite Gamefly, I liked it.

Interesting story about heritage. Not a terrible game, but not a purchase for me either.
