Wait, so can you also get a stealth kill and then not have to run away? Like, is it possible to assassinate your target without setting off that city-wide alarm?

      Re: Assassin's Creed

I just finished the game last night. I enjoyed it for the most part, the only complaint being that it gets pretty repetitive after awhile if you do all of the side missions and the combat wasn't that difficult. After I figured out what I was doing I rarely died until I got to the final boss battles (and even those weren't that difficult) and I never had trouble getting away from the guards. The graphics, animations, and atmosphere are phenomenal, though.

I give it about an 8 out of 10 and I'll definite be a first day purchaser of the sequel. I'd like to see them tweak the combat to make it more challenging, though.

No, you still have to run away. It would be really cool if it was possible to wait until the target is completely alone, like in their bedroom at night, and sneak in and out without anybody being the wiser, but you can't. When you get the stealth kill you still have to run away as soon as you're done since there are always guards around the target.

There are sometimes possibilities to clear out an escape route of enemies, so it makes it a lot easier to escape during the alarm, but the alarm always goes off.

            Re: Assassin's Creed

I had what I thought would be an easy kill. I was going to drop right down on top of the fat guy, but right before, he somehow saw me and took off running outside of the guarded area. I couldn't catch him, but I guessed correctly by going another way and he came running right to me. I did the jump assassination and took him out in a crowd of villagers. It was a lot easier to escape because the guy ran away from all his guards.

Yeah I don't try to run anymore when I assassinate someone, I just kill as many guards as I can until I get bored.

I managed to stealth kill the fat guy giving the party with the poisoned wine and got 30 achievement points for it. I jumped down from the roof onto to the balcony and knifed him before the guards could react. I had to fight the guards afterward though.

That's what I tried to do, but I guess I was watching and waiting to line it up perfectly and he saw me, that guy could run and he ran over anyone who got in his way. He was also screaming help me the whole time.

                        That blows.

                        Okay, mini-wishlist time:

                        1. True stealth kills. I want to be able to get in and out undetected.

                        2. Game needs to be much harder overall, if only optionally - and I'm not talking about the combat. It's as though playing the game realistically is only a "suggestion"; you really don't have to be stealth or careful at all, which is to say there's no difference between playing "sim" and not. If you're perfectly civil, even for very long stretches of time, you're thing is still yellow. So what's the point in being civil if I can't achieve real anonymity? In turn, playing "sim" is more a waste of time than anything. The Hitman games are much better in this respect.

                        3. More "stuff" to get into. It's a real shame that the vast majority of this epic world is just for show (or for climbing on). Give me actual shops, houses, etc. to go into, and give me people I can actually interact with, things to buy and trade, etc. It would be cool if I had the choice to actually give the beggars money, for example, and there needs to be more to do in the Kingdom, too, besides travel and look for flags and stuff. Once you unlock warping, the Kingdom is pretty much useless. The world in general needs to be more interactive is the point.

                        4. Why is my character such an American white-bread stiff when everyone else is all cool and authentic? I understand the connection with the "sci-fi" element, but still, that guy sucks and sounds out of place in everything he says.

Couldn't agree with you more. The game "world" is huge and gorgeous, I just wish you could do more with it. Shops like you mentioned would be awesome. Earning money for assassinations that you can spend would add some needed depth to the proceedings, mixing things up a bit. Maybe you could have informers you could pay for info, equipment to buy, guards to bribe, etc.

The whole gathering of intel before an assassination needs to be drastically reworked to cut down on the tedious nature of them. Some of the tasks had great potential but the execution felt too "game-like" for such a realistic looking game.

I agree with the suggestions for future improvements. This game series has a lot of potential but I think they need to make the combat more challenging and provide more variety in the side missions. Basically it was the same four mission types done over and over again and with only one guard at a time attacking it made it fairly easy to fight off guards indefinitely. And I also think that counterattack and stealth kill were both too powerful. You could beat this game without using anything other than those two skills.
