Harmonix Confirm New Project
Guitar Hero developer moving on.
Australia, January 23, 2007 - It's official. Harmonix, the creator of the Guitar Hero series, and developer of the first two titles, will not be handling development duties on the third game. Activision has handed the reigns over to Neversoft, developer of the hugely successful Tony Hawk series. While this has left Guitar Hero fans wondering just what will become of their beloved series, the upshot is that Harmonix is now free to pursue new projects, and will hopefully build further on its already sterling reputation in the rhythm action genre. This is the studio, after all, that has produced a string of critically acclaimed rhythm action games over the years, including Frequency, Amplitude and the Karaoke Revolution games. In a recent interview with Gamasutra, Harmonix Producer Daniel Sussman commented that while Harmonix is not developing Guitar Hero 3, they "are instead working on a different music game project, one that is a bigger and more ambitious endeavor than we felt we could pursue within the bounds of the Guitar Hero franchise." Sounds good to us.Comment

I don't know the rules about posting it here, but someone leaked a couple of the IGN Insider videos of a few of the new songs onto YouTube. If you do a search for "guitar hero 2 dead", for example, it'll pull up "Dead!" by My Chemical Romance.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 2
Ugh... I just got humbled by this game big time! Now that my addiction to the Wii is finally starting to die down, i've been able to put some quality time into this game. I just 5 starred all of the hard songs ("Six" was a pain), and after beating expert Free Bird on my first try I was feeling invincible. I thought I had every song beaten... that was until I played JORDAN!!!
This song on expert is just nuts... I don't see how i'll ever be able to pass it. It doesn't even sound like it's played on a guitar, and I honestly can't even tell how i'm supposed to play the crazy solo in the middle of the song. I didn't have any problems finishing songs in the first Guitar Hero like this... has anyone out there beaten this and have any tips?LET'S GO FLYERS, YANKEES, DOLPHINS!!!Comment
