I feel that Guitar Hero just didn't have a good balance interms of the songs in the tiers and the difficulty levels. I just feel that when you went from Easy to Medium, the difficulty ramped up rather quick and that the other problem was that there were some easy songs mixed with hard songs in the earlier tiers which is a no-no imo. They should have increasingly got more difficult with each song. I just hope that Guitar Hero II fixes these type of concerns.

Re: Guitar Hero 2
Just played the demo at Gamestop (while reserving it, just to make sure I do get it tomorrow)... I played Strutter and Shout At The Devil. Hammer-ons and pull-offs definitely do work now like they should. Also with regard to this, if you try to play every note because you couldn't quite do the hammer-ons, like I did on the original GH, it won't work. It'll register an extra played note and you'll lose your streak.
Also, the three-button chords on Strutter (expert) are a bitch.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 2
I've got it. Bought it as soon as they brought it out at Wal-Mart tonight about 12:30. I still don't have a camera handy, but since this is technically the release date now, I didn't think proof would be necessary.....
Any suggestions on what to try first?(Keep in mind my skill level - I just passed Ace of Spades on Expert last night. That's "PASSED" or "had my butt saved by Star Power"
)
I wasn't the only one either - 5 other copies of GH II sold the moment they hit the shelf. I've a hunch that if I had gone in tomorrow afternoon like I planned to, I wouldn't have gotten one. There were a few getting GOW too....Last edited by bcruise; 11-07-2006, 01:57 AM.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 2
Honestly, not too much that hasn't been stated elsewhere. I played through Medium (fairly easily, without failing one song, but then I've been playing Expert on the original, so I kind of expected it). I also wanted to get all the songs unlocked. Medium's definitely harder than last year's, and the difficulty ramps up pretty heavily when you get to tier 7 (Madhouse, Psychobilly, and YYZ to name three of the five).
The big thing that surprised me was the presentation, particularly when you do an encore after each set (you'll see). They saved the best of it for last too - the crowd gets particularly into that very last song, if you know what I mean.
I haven't gotten into practice mode yet (didn't need it on medium, but I'd imagine I will on Hard). All in all, it's a lot of fun, and it'll only get better for me when I start on Hard.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 2
Been playing for awhile and have almost beat expert I lack 3 songs on the top tier. This game does ramp up pretty quickly on Expert.
I have spent about an hour in the practice mode, there is room for improvements, but it is a welcome addition. I wish it would replay the section over and over instead of going into the menu again.
On the sixth tier the encore song to me isn't as hard as the one's that lead up to it so the difficulty is varied.
Other than that this game is going to rule me. I spent about 5 hours one day and it hurt my hand so I am having to find a new way to strum.XBL: Countach

Re: Guitar Hero 2
Another neat feature, along with the widescreen and progressive scan is the built in lag adjustment. It plays some notes on the screen and adjust the timing in-game accordingly to eliminate lag...a handy adjustment!
This game is just awesome, though it does seem easier to me. I'm through the first two tiers on Hard, with half of them being five stars (and one a GOLD five stars, 'Strutter' by KISS, which I assume is for hitting every note).
Maybe it's just all the Expert attempts in recent weeks on GH1 that make Hard seem a cakewalk? Also, the songs sound different (at least on my home theater) in the different venues.

Oh yeah, progressive scan on my SXRD looks amazing! I'm very impressed with the graphical upgrade.

Re: Guitar Hero 2
My hands hurt, I'm not on hard, but on medium, just hit 225 note streak on Killing in the Name, before that was 281 notes on Monkey Wrench (easily my favorite song to play until I get to Beast and the Harlot).Comment
