Oh man. Today was my first experience with Guitar Hero 2 (never played 1) and I'm in awe. What an awesome game. I was a huge Frequency and Amplitude fan but never justified paying so much for a game, so glad I did though.

I finally learned that I can hold down the notes while I strum which makes all the difference in the world.

This game is awesome and much more addictive than GH1 and granted I liked the songs in GH1 a lot.

I also just got this game today and am loving it! Love hitting the whammy bar on that intro to "Shout at the Devil". I have a feeling this is one of those games that's going to have me addicted for a very long time.

Very good game, also get the first one when you get a chance. Their both fun.

I have a real hard time with the hammer-on and pull-offs in GH2. I imagine it will just take practice. I can do them in the tutorial section (not very easily though), but can't get them in an actual song.

I find I'm starting to get them to work and I haven't been trying, maybe its just because I'm new and still slow that I can't pull of the cords without doing a hammer on/pull off.
I love how in this game you pull off some amazing streaks and the whole time your thinking "I don't know how I did that".

So, what's everybody's band name and character? My band is called Kevin and the Cruisers and the character I picked was that long, yellow haired guy. I wish you could change the colors of the guitar because I have the blue Freedom V guitar. The game has a silver one that looks like it, so I use that one.

Band name is "Snoogey" (another word that means nothing that I just picked up from somewhere, kinda like my OS name, heh). I've found myself swapping between the Grim Ripper (using the Scythe), Pandora (the chick in the all-white outfit, using the Flying V), and Xavier Stone (the black dude with the 'fro, using the Jimmy Paige double-guitar).

Anyone having any problems with the game disks. I've had two in a row have problems. Ive tried another PS2 and its still messed up. Guitar Hero one had been working fine though.

I haven't had a problem yet. Thanks stinks man.

I only played the first one a few times at friends' houses. What exactly do you do to unlock the encores for each section of songs? Beat the career mode on a certain level or something?

Encores are only in 'Guitar Hero II'. You can do an encore in Career mode after beating the fourth song on each tier...if you pass, the camera pulls back, you hear the crowd cheering, and then a question pops up asking if you can do one more. Then it's encore time!

Everyone seems to be enjoying the hell out of this game, and I'm seriously considering picking it up for the 360, but I have one question. For any guys who play guitar in real life is this game still enjoyable?
