yeah, you, PK, and I agree....They will definitely sell a crapload of systems, and I'm really looking forward to the system. Trauma Center on a Wii will be awesome. People will always want CoD, GRAW, Madden, NBA with snazzy graphics on another system, and I think 360 will win that expensive system war, with the Wii as a pure gaming system (no computer, entertainment replacement crap, just gaming) coming up 2nd

It's the same with Apple. It could put a piece of shiny black charcoal in an iPod box and sell millions of the things. Brand equity is hard to topple. It's why you constantly hear marketing experts refer to the "brand."

Ya. People trust in the brands that they buy over the years. Be it food, clothing, electronics, etc. Good point. How I wish, how I wish you were here. Interesting.
I think Blu-Ray is the next Betamax, a failure waiting to happen. And it will be very intriguing to see if people are willing to spend close to 700 bones after tax just so they can play the next Gran Turismo game, especially since the franchise has seen nothing but graphical upgrades since the original was released eight years ago.
Same with Metal Gear. It was THE suspense espionage game to have, but I think Splinter Cell has closed the gap. If Konami was coming off the horrible "Sons of Liberty" to the PS3, then I'd have my doubts. But I've read that "Snake Eater" was much better, even though I didn't play it.

You can go buy a Wii and 360 for cheaper than the PS3 by itself. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Or a Wii for cheaper than a PSP. A console cheaper than a handheld, tell me that makes sense! How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.Comment

Re: VERY interesting story about next-gen battle between MS, Sony, Nintendo
I think the price factor is Sony's biggest concern. What people arent considering is that its 600 bucks before games, warranty and an extra controller. You are looking at spending 800 bucks at launch for this system. I cant see parents buying that for there kids. I do see the adults buying it for themselves thoughDON'T PANICComment

Re: VERY interesting story about next-gen battle between MS, Sony, Nintendo
I must be one of the few who either understands or cares about this logic. OK, it will suck if some of my favorite franchises -- such as EA's Rugby -- don't come to the Wii.
But paying $500 to $600 for a system just for cool graphics? Give me the cheaper console with the innovative control scheme every time.
The Xbox 360 will have one significant advantage over the PS3 and Wii -- a dedicated, established, robust online service.
The Wii will have a few significant advantages over the Xbox 360 and PS3 -- the controller, the price and the lineup of Nintendo first-party exclusives.
I'm scratching my head right now to find an advantage of the PS3. Can anyone help me?

We'll have to wait and see on that.At the least,I see a "Silver" type setup that will allow for the downloading of demos, patches, and the purchase of microtransactions. These things are key to the changing landscape of the videogaming market.
On the hardware side some advantages are Wi-Fi out of the box,HDMI connectivity(which may be necessary in future for Hi-Def DVD),and a much bigger harddrive, with the option to easily add much bigger drives in future.
Also, the machine is supposed to be backward compatible with all PS1 and PS2 games right out of the box, making for an enormous library available from the get-go.And for current Sony owners,a comfort factor in not having to ditch their game libraries.I also think game saves will carry over as well via the older memory cards.
I wouldn't dismiss the PS3 out of hand...and I don't think a couple hundred bucks is really gonna be that big of an obstacle to overcome for Sony.PS3/PS4 BradCompanyComment

Re: VERY interesting story about next-gen battle between MS, Sony, Nintendo
I can't wait for the Wii. I'm curious to know what their plans are for online gaming which is the most important thing for me.
Online gaming is the reason why the 360 will be #1 for me. Comparing scores with friends to downloading demos has been awesome and it'll only get better on xbox live. I even threw a party using my 360. Had the computer connected through the network, streamed mp3s and also had visuals for the TV. Stuff like that makes me a happy 360 owner. To me its more than a machine with nicer graphics
I guess I don't buy these machines just for gaming , I like systems that can do more than 1 thing like my PSP. I use for mp3s, transfered Tivo programs, play friends online all the time or ad hoc at work with other psp owners.Comment

Re: VERY interesting story about next-gen battle between MS, Sony, Nintendo
As long as there are a few great sim sports games like WE or something, then the Wii looks very attractive to me.
I'm at the point where I'm not sure I want to keep dropping loads of cash for a new console. I still game as much as I used to, but am thinking about other financial obligations as well.
High def graphics would be sweet, but I still think there will be a nice improvement over the current xbox graphics I'm seeing (am I wrong?).Comment

Re: VERY interesting story about next-gen battle between MS, Sony, Nintendo
I actually thought the Madden footage from E3 looked cool with the Wiimote. A nonchalant flip of the wrist is a lob pass, a snap equals a bullet. The directional pad chose the receiver, and you could juke, duck and move by shifting the nunchuck attachment.
That is the kind of immersive (and intuitive) sports play I look forward to on the Wii.Comment

Two hours later, I was jacked out of my mind for this console, and my enthusiasm hasn't waned a bit.

I believe Nintendo is also releasing a standard gaming controller(similar to the SNES) with the Wii.How I wish, how I wish you were here.
