I love my DC, still play it. Going through Shenmue again, and my wife has discovered Seaman. So many quality games on that system, shame it never got support from big name developers.

Loved the dreamcast. They should give it one more go around, but are probably too broke to do so. Web browser and everything.
That system was truly ahead of its time.

Man. Oh my dreamcast. I miss it so. I swear almost every game I played on that thing I loved. I think this system would have been one of the best selling ever if companies would've given it some support. Most companies just threw a few titles together but you and I both know they were gearing up for the PS2 Cycle. Then EA. They totally killed the system. VMU SCREEN CALLING PLAYS ON NFL2k... That was really great if you knew the playbooks.

Huh? And why wasn't it great?

The DC had one of the strongest, most imaginative software lineups for any console ever. And it was the first console with online play, and it had other cool stuff like analog triggers on the controller, four controller ports, a small size, the VMU, cool peripherals like a mouse, keyboard and fishing pole, etc.

So what would have made a great system in your eyes? I think it is the best system that ever existed.

              Take care,

I still have mine, though I somehow lost almost all my games.

                Great system.

Playcalling on the VMU. Too Sweet. That made playing games against your "playcalling watching" buddy, fun. He really had to play defense. Heck I still have a light gun and steeringwheel, still not open. Might be a good time to play House of the Dead 2.

Me and my buddy made playbooks with a ton of plays diagrammed. We'd be madly flipping through our books between plays...so cool. Like PK said, between the VMU, triggers, nice peripherals and online play, DC was definitely ahead of it's time.

Re: Dreamcast would have turned seven this year

I sold mine thinking most of the games I liked would have newer verisions on Xbox and PS2.

Illbleed got canned on Xbox, there was never a Fighting Vipers 3,the following UFC games didn't really live up to that one, they never remade The Ring, didn't make another Rival Schools game,Quake 4 sucked,Crazy Taxi 3 wasn't as good, couldn't find the PS2 Space Channel 5,2D fighters took a big dive and Fire Pro is still only in Japan.

At least the sports games,Tokyo Xtreme,House of the Dead,Soul Caliber,PGR and Jet Set Radio live on.

SEGA had some really nice original IPs on the Dreamcast. I'm really surprised that they didn't try to bring over many of those games to the Ps2/XBX or even talk of bringing some to the next gen era.

How sweet would Powerstone be on the 360 with the horsepower in that system, or even bringing Shenmue 3 out, or how about another Seaman game? I can keep on going on and on about this.

I used to own both a US and ASIAN Dreamcasts, 1 for the domestic games and the other for the imports.

I thought that they'd at least try to implement some type of VMU copy into one of these systems. I mean, what's better than picking a play without having your opponent know what it is? I vaguely remember using that joint. I don't know what it is but that system was beautiful. I think it was the first system I had to hustle to get money for. My parents stopped supporting my videogame habit. Man, I loved that system. Played 2K in college. We use to stay up in the room playing constantly. Remember the Toronto Raptors being like the ultimate team with Tracy, Vince, Doug Christie, Alvin Williams, Hakeem.....man I use to mop the floor with that squad. We'll see if any company will at least try to use more of the unique stuff.......
