    Re: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

I got it from Best Buy tonight even though I already did the TRU deal and have an extra copy of Madden to return for Marvel at TRU, so then I can return THAT copy back to Best Buy.

All of this for this game one night early. I am officially an addict.

BTW, Captain America is awesome from the little bit that I played.

I was going to jump on this TRU deal for Walmart bait but held off.

              Re: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

And after that comment, I think I'll post some actual game chat:

I love the game. It definitely feels like an updated and tweaked Xmen Legends 2, butin the best way possible. For those of you that haven't played XL2, it's much like the updated Gauntlet series, with more RPG elements. A is for punch, B is for smash (a move which can be charged), Y is for jump, X is for grap, RT + any face button are for assigned super powers.

Things that I like about this much more than XL2:

              - Characters now seem different. Sure, they are always going to be in classes, but now Ironman (and ranged fighter) feels different than, says, Iceman. Captain America has a bunch of 'buff' powers, and they AI seems a bit smarter when using their powers to help.

              - Different outfits provide different stat buffs. The different outfit skins are no longer just graphical enhancements. Each outifit provides you with 3 different statistical buffs. With 4 outifts for each character, this just upgrades the amount of strategy there is when you progress later in the game.

              - Progressive difficulty. I didn't feel the game getting any harder in XL2. I popped in UMA, beat the first level, and proceeded to lose 3 of my 4 heroes on the next level because I started rushing in head first thinking it was too easy.

              - Large scale bosses. I have already faced one, and they provide me with a "Contra-Like" feel when you battle against them. All bosses have some sort of cycle they go through when you are attacking, and some are much harder than others. Take for instance Radioactive Man. He reacted to the way I attacked him. I sent Wolverine and Colossus in to attack him, and when they got some health down on him, all of the sudden I was taking massive damage. I then realized he had used his powers to make the area around him radioactive. Well, without the Metal Skin upgrade to Colossus yet, and with Wolverine's healing powers at a low level, I was no match up close. I called off the dogs and started lighting him up with Cap's Shield attack (which you can now control after you use it with the L Stick). Boss weaknesses also seem to be tied to the hero they are normally associated with in the comics.

              - Individual comic battle. I picked up a Captain America disc in the first level. It says it unlocks a old comic book adventure mission for Cap, although I was too tired to try it.

As of now, I'm still not thrilled with the camera, although it is much better than it was in XL2. Graphics are good but not great, although the environments you travel through and destroy are nice. Sound if very well done, even the music in the background (if you are a fan of the cheesy 'battle' music they used in a lot of cartoon versions of Marvel comics, you may recognize some of the tunes).

All in all, very much worth my $60, but I am also a huge comic geek. If you like Gauntlet type games, and online co-op, I would pick this up.

              Any questions? Fire away.

Great impressions Millenium. I second what he said, this game is really good and very fun. I agree that if your a comic book nut, this game will be like heaven for you. The moment that I was able to switch characters, I added Deadpool to my team. I have always wanted a videogame that I could play as him and now I finally get that chance.
