In that case the 360 is selling WORSE than the Xbox over the same period of time. How is that impressive?

I think there are some people who just cannot accept looking at ALL the numbers, and isntead just look at one and claim they see the whole picture. Personally, I don't careone of or the other how the 360 does in terms of sales. If it has enough games I want that I can't get anywhere else, then I'll buy one.

This goes to everyone: Please stop callling people 360 haters just because they are not going ga-ga over this 6 million number. These boards are here for discussion, and not everyone will have the same opinion.
Exactly so why are you arguing over others opinions that you can't compare the 2? You've stated your opinion so move on.

Because this thread begin with my friend Candyman showing some love for the success of the system.

And it was hopefully going to turn into a thread of people posting how happy they were for the company and how happy they were with their 360's.

Instead you, and the other gentlemen. Took enough time, to go find articles that would conflict with this info and try to pee on their parade. Thats considered a *****.

Instead on congratulating M$, you decide to hate on its success. And the other one tried to even compare PS2 sales. I mean come on. The article is about sales figures of Xbox 360. (not PS2, and its not talking fake suggestions of shipped systems. But instead sold and in households.)

I posted proof of 4 million sold. So obviously Reuters site, is full of it. And even Team xbox confirms that....I think I'd trust a direct info'd site like Teamxbox over reuters...

All I'm saying is give the company its props. They are doing good. If sony does just as good when PS3 comes out. Show them the same respect and love...don't go posting links talk about M$ did this and that....

M$ is doing good. And as a satisfied customer, the system is holding strong. I can see why its sold so many already....The games being released are great and XBL is a beast.

Sounds to me like there was a logical debate going on. If one person presents facts and anohter person finds facts to dispute the other this is how debate works. The problem is the article is not defining what they mean by sold. If a company shipped 6 million units how many are still sitting on store shelves somewhere? Just because they shipped systems does not mean they were necessarily sold.

first, I apologize for my language, however I didn't take time to dig up articles. I had read it before, and felt like it would add something to the discussion. I guess in the future, you should put "for fanboys only" in the title of these kinds of topics.

Reuters is one of the world's top media companies, which focuses on financial information, such as how well microsoft is doing. All you posted was info from some xbox only fan site, which even misinterpreted the numbers as total consoles sold. Um, ok reuters is full of it then. Reuters used MS's own numbers which they released to the public, since you know, they're a publicly traded company. But hey, if you only want to read xbox fanboy sites..here's the same exact info on two different ones.

Both show that there's only 3.6 million in the US after 1 full year, aside from the imports or whatever, yet they want to add another 4 million worldwide by the end of this year.

Just because your info shows there's 4 million xbox live accounts, means nothing in terms of 360 sales. Not only can people can get numerous accounts on one console, but oh, there's also the conveniently unmentioned fact that xbox live covers TWO consoles. There's 24 million xboxes out there, combined with the 6 million 360's..I'd say 4 out of 30 isn't that great. That's like 13%?

But I'm not trashing the 360, I'm gonna get one around thanksgiving. I just don't think it's doing as good as people said it would with a full year head start. That doesn't mean it won't blow up in sales when all the great games start coming out. I think it'll be easy for the ps3 to catch up to this number, based on their popularity in japan alone.

What is worrisome for MS is that the momentum for the 360 is pretty much spent. Most everyone who would consider getting one has already,as the month by month sales trends are very flat. This is all without any "next-gen" competition for sales. In a few weeks there is going to be a lot of money spent on next-gen consoles not made by Microsoft.Gears of War is not going to stem that tide.

Actually I believe the 360 is still selling well as they are getting consistantly bought at the EBGAMES/Gamestop by me. Hardcore gamers will get a PS3 other than that I think the Wii and 360 will do well.

This will also be the first holiday season that they will be in inventory.

I love my 360, but I'm also pissed that I knew I had to spend extra money for a warranty cuz I KNEW it would break. They've even finally come out and admitted that the 2005's were defective.

The whole time I knew I had a ticking time bomb, and sure enough after 5 months, poof. I treated this thing like it was the hope diamond.

Now I have to wait to get a replacement.

The early adopters did get the shaft, and that's too bad being that they are the most loyal. I'm sorry if this is supposed to be a "Yay Xbox" party but that's the truth.

So now hopefully I'll have my replacement in a few weeks. I was fortunate enough to copy my dynasty's and stuff over to a memory card. I just hope my replacement can last a dam year. Is that asking too much?

My launch PS2 crapped out on me too, but at least it lasted 2 1/2 years with marathon gaming sessions when I was a bachelor.

I see no need to buy a PS3, doesn't interest me in the least. I would however like my pricey 'next gen' 360 to last longer than 5 months.

Now offense but if you are buying any electrinic device for hundreds of dollars and you dont get a warranty...you are an idiot. That goes for the ps3 or any high dollar electronic advice. Now that doesnt mean that Ms should be excused for the crappy 360s they sold (I'm on my 3rd 360) but to say MS made you get a warranty is a stretch. You should have bought one anyway.

Guess I'm not an idiot because I DID buy one. Which means you have to build the cost into the initial purchase. Now if you've now purchased one 360 and three warranties and are ok with that, that's your business.

Now when I get my replacement I have to get another warranty. I'm sorry but to fault the consumer when a company has this high of failure rate on a product is just silly.

My point is you should build a warranty into the cost of any major electronic purchase. I have a HDTV, Ipod, Pocket PC, home theater and 360 under warranty. Why? Cause **** happens and electronic devices break down. Also, I didnt buy 3 warranties. I bought one. The MS one lets you replace it as many times as you want during the life of the warranty.

I blame both MS and you for the issues though. MS for creating a somewhat shotty product that seems to break down easily. You take the blame for not doing enough research to realize that the MS and Best Buy warranties (You probably have a Gamestop/EB warranty) allow you to return the product as many times as you want for repair during the warranty period.

Edit: Before I am jumped on... No I don't hate MS. I have an Xbox and love it. I've just decided to wait until the PS3 and WII comes out to make my decision on which console I want to game with for this upcoming gen.

                        Good post.

No matter what it is I think you should get the electronic replacement plan. It's saved my *** quite a few times.

But back on subject... I don't understand how the system can be considered a success regardless of if the 6 million figure is incorrect or not. If Microsoft was planning to sell 6 mill in the first 6 month period and they've taken double that time to sell that amount.

That's not exactly selling like hot cakes.

I actually have the CC warranty. Instead of a refurb that I probably have to send back when it breakes, they just send me a CC gift card for the full purchase price plus tax. That way I am guaranteed to get a new one at the store instead of a refurb from MS.

But regardless of which warranty anyone has, MS has obviously screwed up or they wouldn't out of the grace of their hearts be giving "free" replacements on the 05 consoles. They're also refunding money to people that didn't get a warranty and paid for a repair/replacement.

I just hope the new ones don't crap out as quickly.
