That's what's happening with the PS3's....I mean who should really care about it...but when people are complaining about the hoarding/gouging by people who are just out to make a buck and you say..."it's a free market...you have nothing to complaing about"....I'm just posing the questions that if oil companies decided to go nuts and triple the price of everything would you tell people the same thing?

    again, wrong.

the buyers are setting the price of the ps3 you see on ebay. When gas prices increase, it's because of demand. When you saw assclowns filling one gallon milk jugs with gas after hurricane katrina, it caused shortages. Oh no, what happened? Prices went up.

There's many reasons as to what controls gas prices. Too much to go into here, but it's still supply and demand. OPEC controls the flow of lots of oil for one thing. However, what you are stating as oil companies setting prices is illegal, and no company would do it.

I can however, if I want go wait in line with the rest of the people and buy a PS3. Everyone has an equal opportunity to acquire the product being sold.
Okay...I can see this is going to be quite pointless.

they buy simply to resell. thats greed.

let those who wanted them get them at retail and be done with.

yes there smart to make the money and take advantage obviously. but they are still greedy.. cant get much simplier than that imo.

hell yes id be greedy about a sought after shoe at footlocker, buying up all the nikes, when others who wanted to wear these now cant get them because me and my friends have them all. prices are known to rise thats why I even started this practice.. consumers now conform to new standards and still buy the goods, instead of at retail they pay 100 dollars more... Of course its their fault for waiting out, but im still the greedy one here, albeit smart to stock up on sought after goods.

dont take greedy the wrong way. if anything its a compliment for being smart with your information and time

In a true free economy, any price would be allowed and the end user would decide if the price is to be continued REGARDLESS of supply and demand.
You cannot argue a totally free economy on one hand...and then argue supply and demand on the other.
That...and you guys are fixed on something I am not arguing. What I am trying to say is....that while those people can gobble up the PS3's and sell them.....you can't scold people for being a little ticked and ****ing with them.

Of course it's natural to feel jealous when someone is making money, but it takes a real ***** to show that jealousy by breaking ebay rules at the expense of the seller's time and money.

Exaclty. That's the funny part. People saying the sellers are "unethical" then applauding the people that do that stuff to their auctions as if they are doing something that's somehow morally ok.

If you're only trying to argue that the sellers are "greedy," then I guess that is just a matter of opinion. I'm sure everyone here is "greedy" on some level using your definition, which is true. I want money just as much as the next guy, does that make me greedy? This is just all a matter of what the word means to you. It's just that the word has many negative connotations, such as taking advantage of people, being immoral, etc, which I don't buy at all in this case.

Yeah I'm greedy as well. I wish you wouldn't have dared me to bet earlier on the Saints/Panthers finish and then run away from the thread.

In a free market economy, supply and demand are interlinked with that economy. You can't separate one from the other. In essence supply and demand is the ultimate free economy.

It's not a free market if the buyer is the only one determining price.
