While I could give a crap what these guys do....it's not really right. If you don't want the thing....don't gouge the price on those that do want it. Just my opinion.

      sigh..

this has got to be like the 7th time this would be explained. I think this thread has lost it's way along the road of making sense to some people.

comparing the prices of gasoline, water, air, whatever to the ps3 is laughable and flawed logic. They have nothing in common. A ps3 is a toy meant for people with money to spare. Not getting a game console does not affect the way you live, starve you from lacking it, or freeze you to death in the winter because you couldn't pay for it. It's essentially a luxury item that is meant for entertainment purposes.

Some people in here need to take an econ class.

I'm not comparing the prices of anything.....BK's argument is "it's a free market and the prices are set by that".
With that logic anything is up for grabs with anything......
I mean if you are going to use that arguement....you can't just apply it when YOU want to....so take your sigh and .....you know the rest

true.. now let me just say, ive had my greedy practices at one point or another witholding info in hopes of eventually getting paid on an early premise. who hasnt?

to me there are different degrees of greed so to speak.

getting info from a friend that this new project is getting ready for contract bids 3 weeks before its announced and withholding info from your competitors.. well thats just business to me. greed induced

heck. maybe making money IS all about greed. just dont take the word greed in the wrong context as this slimball scum of the earth move.. those just might be the breaks of making money

yes gasoline prices are set by supply and demand. However the way you applied what you said to it is flawed. I'm still confused as to why this got to 19 pages of basically back and forth arguing.

Re: PS3 fans lashing out at all PS3 auctions!

                A buys PS3 for $600
B wants PS3, and is willing to pay more than the "sticker" for it
                A offers PS3 for $2000
B has $5000 to spare, so $2000 would fall within his range
B accepts A's offer to sell the PS3 for $2000

The transaction is completed between two willing and able people. Why is this a big deal or considered unethical?

That's what's happening with the PS3's....I mean who should really care about it...but when people are complaining about the hoarding/gouging by people who are just out to make a buck and you say..."it's a free market...you have nothing to complaing about"....I'm just posing the questions that if oil companies decided to go nuts and triple the price of everything would you tell people the same thing?

Many accuse the oil companies actiing in union to fix the gas prices. Not to mention oil is not really a luxury but it's a neccsity. Also the oil companies control the supply of oil.

Am I wrong is it not a free market. Since when is someone taking initiative to take advantage of a sellers market considered unethical.

Re: PS3 fans lashing out at all PS3 auctions!

Its interesting that all the champions of free-market capitalism are getting so worked up at the use of the label "greedy"

Greedy is not automatically synonomous with being unethical, immoral, or illegal, but people here are taking it that way.

Since this is a purely luxury item that NO ONE actually needs, it doesn't really bother me that people are trying to gouge people for as much as they can get. I still think of those who are selling it at those prices as greedy, they're not bad guys, just greedy.

Making money, even a lot of money has no direct connection with greed.

A person could have made billions, and not be greedy, a person could be dirt poor and be the most greedy person alive. Its all about context.

It is my perception(which obviously skewed by own biases) that what going on here is a case of folk being greedy.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

The oil companies also control the supply. It's not like I can drive to some oil field and get my own oil.

I can however, if I want go wait in line with the rest of the people and buy a PS3. Everyone has an equal opportunity to acquire the product being sold.

                                1. No one NEEDS a PS3

                                2. There aren't unions of sellers artificially (and illegally) inflating the price. One seller is providing a product at a price a buyer has determined reasonable. Pretty simple.
