    Little Big Planet (PS3)

    This looks and sounds awesome.

Sony's intriguing new game asks what happens when felt creatures come to the PlayStation 3.

Given the abstract nature of the theoretical talk that happens when the power of the PlayStation 3's cell processor is brought up, it's somehow fitting that one of the most intriguing displays of what the system can do should be a unique game from the fine folks who brought us Rag Doll Kung Fu. During Sony's GDC press event last night, Phil Harrison introduced reps from UK-based Media Molecule who were on-hand to show off Little Big Planet, an upcoming PS3 title with a funky twist. The demo of the game offered an intriguing showcase for what's possible with the PS3.

is this Sony's version of Viva Pinata?
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Surprised there's virtually no discussion on this game.

LBP is going to be a huge hit. I believe Phil said the game will be released through the PSN first and then there will be a retail copy. Sony is smart to let users create their own levels and then taking the best ones and putting it in the retail copy. They don't have to pay you one penny even though they will be making money off your creation. For most gamers, having your own level appear in a retail copy videogame is already cool enough.

The announcement of Home, LBP, and knowing Rumble is coming back, has me thinking about buying a PS3 this Holiday season.

With these big announcements I wonder what they have left for E3. Because of the bad pr they are getting, they were probably forced to make these annnouncement at GDC instead of E3.

And lets not forget about the Playstation Edge release. IMO that is the biggest annoucement.

What's Playstation Edge? Haven't heard of this.

With all the GDC news that came out on the PS3 it did intrigue me a little more about it - but only ever so slightly. I'm not a big fan of the Sims or virtual home building; the best thing to me about Home was that it's free which is great. LBP looks nice, but it's something I'd only be vaguely interested in. The rumble coming back is interesting, as they may use the new rumble technology that [whatever the name is of the company that owns the patent] was hyping.

Right now for me the biggest selling points for the PS3 is blu-ray, and backwards compatibility. It doesn't seem as if we'll see anything tangible in the way of [possible] great games until the holiday season. The possibility of a price drop if they can get manufacturing costs down with this new chip would be big for me because I think the $599 price is too steep given the games available, even if you threw Home, LBP, and rumble into the mix (all of which won't be available until later in the year I assume).
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Edge is a software tool made by Sony for third party developers for them to take advantage or the RSX and Cell processor.

Seems to be a Mario-type level creator game with funny characters.
