I agree that it sucks, but this is what their going to do..............it irritates me that Harmonix never released the entire GH1 or GH80's songs on the 360 as DLC and were so slow in doing so. But now they have thrown like 12 songs I think as of last night as DLC. Like Extreme said, this is going to be one expensive game if you start buying the downloads..............some of these extra songs should have been in the final product.

I'm glad now that you can buy individual songs instead of packs if there is junk in those packs.

The Metallica pack is one hard SOB even on Easy with the drums.........Ride the Lightning has to be the easiest of the 3 songs to play. I still want to get the Police pack............and the Foreigner songs is not bad, but is just a frickin' cover. I didn't bother with the Queens of the Stoneage stuff since we already have that stuff on GH3.

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions

This game is great fun. I mainly experimented last night with a bunch of "quickplay" songs on medium level on drums and had a blast. Generally I score within the mid to high 90s on medium, but some of the faster songs like Blitzkreig Bop are a little tougher. Just for kicks, I tried Bon Jovi on expert level and got 67% of the way through the song before I got booed off the stage. Impossible for me right now, mainly because of the way they ramp up the usage of the kick pedal on the higher difficulty levels. At that level you really need to totally detatch it from your hands and I can't do that right now.

I did have to perform a little initial calibration because there was some lag between me hitting the drums and them registering on the screen, but after I did that the game played great. You do need to jack up the sound to drown out the sound the drums make when you hit them, but that's not really a big deal. My wife was singing last night while I was playing drums and she was really digging it too. Although I did make her stay up kind of late playing and at one point I noticed that I had lost the vocal track when we were performing "Creep" by Radiohead. I look over and she's asleep. Haha....

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions

Was able to play for a bit last night. All I can say is that even playing solo, this is going to consume a lot of my time for the next few weeks or even months.

As I'm sure most people have done, I hooked up the drum kit first and started there. Went through the tutorial just to make sure that I wouldn't feel totally ******** when attempting a song. I then went to the solo tour on easy. After playing Say It Ain't So as my first song, I had to run upstairs and tell my wife that this was the most fun I'd ever had with a game. Still feel that way, even after dealing with a cramped lower leg.

I feel like I'm doing pretty well, but I still realize that it's on easy and the kick drum isn't a main part of the rhythm yet. I'm liking the slower songs a bit better, because I feel like I can do more with the fill sections. Favorites so far include Wanted Dead or Alive, Epic, Black Hole Sun, Creep and In Bloom. Looking at the track list, I can't wait to play Tom Sawyer. I can't imagine playing that song on Hard or Expert...

Also pulled out the mic and sang a bit too. Easy seems to provide a lot of leeway as I fumbled through some unknown songs like Maps (which I hate by the way) but still was able to get 98% or 100% on virtually every song.

All I know is that I can't wait to get some buddies over to jam. I think I might even be able to get the Mrs. to play.
I have faith in God that the Vikings will win the Super Bowl before I die...

November 20, 2007 - As many PS3 owners are learning, the Guitar Hero III guitar does not work with Rock Band. The game recognizes the guitar as a normal controller and won't allow you to use it to rock out. Harmonix has offered an official response to growing concerns that gamers can't use an alternate guitar to play Rock Band:

"Harmonix develops and bases all of our games, guitars and other peripherals on open standards established by platform manufacturers such as Microsoft and Sony. Rock Band is no exception and supports an open controller standard. Guitar controllers are like any other standard game controllers--the controller sends a signal back to the game depending on the buttons you push. If a third party game controller is based on open standards, then it should work with Rock Band as well. If certain controllers do not work with Rock Band, questions about those controllers should be directed to the peripheral manufacturer. In addition, we welcome any 3rd party software that wishes to support Rock Band guitars. If a 3rd party guitar / music game does not support the Rock Band guitar controller, questions regarding this should be directed to the game manufacturer."

Red Octane, the company that manufactures Guitar Hero's peripherals, has yet to offer IGN an explanation or official response. According to Harmonix, it's on Red Octane and publisher Activision. It would seem that unless these two can make nice (and realize that fans are the ones being punished), there will be no patch to remedy this situation.

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

Do I smell some possible lawsuit coming from any PS3 owners.....that the game false advertises a second guitar that isn't even availalbe. I can see some goofball doing that.
All Harmonix has to do to ease the frusterated PS3 owners is start selling some PS3 guitars outside of the bundle. You would think that from their explaination a guitar hero 2 guitar for the PS2 that they made would work when using the PS2->PS3 controller adapter, but guess what, it doesn't either. That statement pretty much implies also that there isn't going to be a patch to get it to work.

Yeah, I think if they don't do something soon by releasing another compatible guitar or trying to patch even their own PS2 guitars....LOL! I have a feeling they could get in some kind of trouble for false advertising a game that doesn't allow you to use 2 guitars. I could be way off wrong with my statements, but you know how legal/court action-happy Americans have become.

Oh my god. This is the first I've heard of it, but according to the Gamespot review, they're releasing the entire "Who's Next" album as DLC?

That is cool, but I have a problem with the pricing on full albums...............you are looking at $20 from what reports had said a few months back. I'm sorry, but albums don't even cost that much on itunes..............crazy.

I played Rock Band with 7 others for a very, very long time last night. The drums are incredible, but I didn't get to play them much. I wasn't in control of the process, so we ended up having to play "Say It Ain't So" and "In Bloom" about 20 times each on sets.

I more or less did and I don't regret the purchase at all. I am going through the guitar career, drum career, and occasionally messing with the mic career.

On another note, I have retired my RB guitar controller and playing exclusively with my GH controller. It is just better.
