While I'm not a huge fan of the Who, Behind Blue Eyes and Who Are You are my favorite DLC out of any that I've bought and they are probably 2 of the best sounding tracks in the game IMO.
The "ROCK" Band argument is old and completely inaccurate. Just go to the rockband forums and they'll even tell you it's a pointless argument and that the game should and does cover different ranges of music.

You have Guitar Hero 3 for that. I can't stand bands like Muse. They're all yours.

I hate Muse - and on top of that, Muse isn't Metal. Looking at the GH III download list... I'd download one song - the Tom Morello battle. Should have been in quick play mode as a regular song from the get go.

The game itself has what, 70 or so songs and would cost about the same amount of money without the instruments.

That being said, there is some stuff that I have to get: Metallica, The Who, Oasis, Radiohead and many more I can't think of right now. Guess I'll just have to put up with my wife *itching that I spent another chunk of cash on this game. This even though she plays it with me and complains more than I do about wanting more songs. Ahh, the mystery of the female mind...

EDIT: Almost forgot, I was going to buy the DrumShh pads today as well (wife usually plays the drums). Worth it?
You're right, if you go out and buy a bunch of songs at once, it adds up pretty quickly, but if you just add a couple songs at a time, pretty much anyone can handle $4 here and $2 there. Just don't overdo it and you should be fine. At least your wife will play with you. I just get the "I'm annoyed" look whenever I pull out the Rock Band equipment. I'm trying though. I think she would get hooked if she just gave it a chance.

I think the reason for the lack of metal is the vocal aspect of the game. It just isn't as fun to scream (for me anyway). I think Metallica is about as heavy as it's going to get. I could be completely wrong though. We'll have to wait and see what the DLC announcment is today. Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised. Or maybe we'll get another Jimmy Buffet pack.

Totally agree with you on the vocal aspect. While I think there should be some more metal songs, some metal just has constant screaming the entire time where that doesn't appeal to most people. Personally, I like to scream to some stuff, and I think it would be fun on certain songs, but I would HATE to have to do the entire song. I do admit that there is like no screaming to be found on Rock Band, and I would like to see a little of it.

And personally, I love Muse. I wish Stockholm Syndrome would've been added along with Hysteria when it came out instead of being on GH3.

                DLC for this week.

Next week we have a nice little cross section of tracks. We have the amazing Testament, members of System of a Down in Scars on Broadway, perennial favorites Staind, and a .99 track from The New No 2. The Scars on Broadway track and the Staind track are both singles from their new albums being released through Rock Band. Awesome!

Tracks will be out on Tuesday on Xbox Marketplace and Thursday on the Playstation Store.

                TRACKS:

Scars on Broadway - They Say $1.99 (160 MS points)

Staind - This is It $1.99 (160 MS Points)

                Testament - Electric Crown

The New No 2 - Yomp
                99¢ (80 MS Points)

Well, I really like the Scars On Broadway song, so I'll be getting that for sure. I have to give "This Is It" a few more listens before I decide, but I like it enough that I'll probably buy it cause its another song to play

Would've rather had a Staind song from Break the Cycle. Most of their songs since that album have been pretty weak.

Staind from Dysfunction would have been great. Everything after that has pretty much sucked. Oh well.

I've managed to get myself into the top 7000 on the leaderboards for Guitar. I know that probably no one cares - but I think it's pretty cool to be 7000 out of who knows how many players on LIVE (only keeps track of 100,000 - so I'm at least in the top 7%. My exact number right now is 6,968).

I'm still working on Gold-Staring songs. I didn't really care about leaderboards, but I decided to check it after I'd been gold staring a ton of songs. I think I've got almost all but the bottom 2 or 3 teirs gold-stared.

Yeah, being in the top 7000 would make me very excited, knowing how many people play this damn game

I also like being high on leaderboards lol. Like in GH3, on Paranoid by Black Sabbath, I got up to like in the 2,000s. I was really proud of that lol.

Question on the Rock Band Leaderboards. Does it factor in all difficulties, bonus songs, and downloaded songs? I've played only Hard/Expert songs, so I'm wondering if people get higher ranks by beating all difficulties. I'm ranked like 26,000 I think.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure DLC isn't factored into it. Also, I believe they take the highest point total that you scored per song.

So if you got 50,000 on hard but only 48,000 on expert, you'd get the 50,000.

Someone correct me if this isn't right.
