Yeah, I'd say you are only getting 5% of the Guitar Hero experience by playing with a regular controller. The Guitar controller is well worth the money.

I'll look into it...I'm enjoying the game as it is, so adding the guitar will surely be beneficial.

I'm sure it will. I just did some searching on getting one. Maybe I'll have one this weekend.

How do you play without the guitar? do use the stick to strum? what about the whammy? I would think playing with a regular controller would be almost impossible. At the very least unintuitive.

You use the RT/RB for Green and Blue and the LT/LB Red and Yellow. The A button is Orange.

For the whammy, you use either of the analog sticks. There is no strumming.

It can. The least fun I've had playing a game in over five years was when I tried playing Guitar Hero with a controller. Get yourself the guitar, for all of our sake!

Not having to strum is a two sided sword. Sure, it makes it easier in the sense that you don't have to coordinate the timing of your left and right hand, but at the same time, in those instances when you have to play the same note over and over VERY fast (like many later songs on hard and expert) you can't just hold that button down and strum away, you need to press it very, very fast over and over. Sounds exhausting.

I played the demo with the controller (never had a GH before) and it was a serious challenge playing "The Metal" on Hard. I loved it!! Insane challenge, but well worth it when done. Those repetitive note stretches are a killer with the controller.

You can actually use a Wiimote as well on the Wii version...though it's gotta be much harder.

B = Green
control pad = red
A = yellow
1 = blue
2 = orange

Oh really, so you can hold down the button and just strum? I didn't even think of that. I can see how having the guitar would make those cases easier.

Yeah, you can just hold it down and strum. I can't imagine how difficult some of the later songs have to be with a regular controller since you have to press that same note (button) over and over. Crazy.

I can't beat Before I Forget on Hard... I beat everything else on the tier. Looks like I'm going to get that fail 10 times on a song achievement.

I just beat the game on Medium.....and TTFAF is nuts enough for me on Medium!!

Now, I just need a second Wii guitar.....
