Here's what I've picked up about lockpicking, anyone else have any tips?

Move the bobbie pin(try it at any angle). Now rotate the screwdriver. if The screwdriver doesn't turn the lock very far and it starts to shake, ease off the screwdriver and then rotate the bobbie pin some. Now retry the screwdriver. Repeat until you can get the screwdriver to turn the lock 90 degrees.

Okay I've decided to go back and start over from leaving the Vault. Reasoning for this is I finally read the game manual and it was so much I did not know or undertand due to the fact I have never played a Fallout game before. I'm only a Level 3 so I'm not to far in. Now that I have tried playing by trial and error, then reading the game manual a lot of this is now making sense to me. Wish me luck. Peace!!!!!!

Question about a situation that occured in Megaton.

Ok here is my experience in Megaton. I talk to Burke and told him that I didn't want to blow up the town (trying to be good this round), so I go and tell the sheriff what Burke was trying to do and me and the sheriff go back into the bar and the sheriff confronts Burke. Sheriff tells him he's coming to jail so Burke gets up starts walking and then pulls out a gun and one shot kills the sheriff. I'm like wtf, Burke looks at me and told me I made a huge mistake and I would pay for it and then it looks as if he is about to blow my head off so I pull out VATS and take care of him.

Menu pops up saying I can no longer get rewards for blowing up Megaton, which I figured. My explosive skills weren't high enough to disable the nuke. I ended up leaving and heading to the Radio station. So am I screwed for both them guys, like story and or achievement wise? I saved right before me and the sheriff went in. I may go back if it hinders anything. Any ideas?

i've never played a fallout game....i dont know whats going on exactly...so i just run around and explore. i mean you run into other stuff and eventually run into what you need to do. just explore the world

The sheriffs son will give you the same thing that he would of gave you. After the sheriff died, this little boy walked up to me a little bit later and told me that his dad (The sheriff) told him what he was going to give you if you disarmed it and he says he will give it to you when you disarm it.

Just picked this up earlier today and it is really sucking me in. So far I'm having a pretty good time in Megaton.

I talked to Mr. Burke once I got into town and agreed to rig the bomb for him. Though after spending a little time in town I started to feel bad about my decision, so I ratted Mr. Burke out to the Sheriff. I then follow him up to the Bar where Burke hangs out and watched the Sheriff attempt to arrest Burke. A gun fight ensues between the Sheriff and Burke, and by the time I join in with my police baton(I was out of ammo) the Sheriff has been killed. I manage to cling to life long enough to beat Burke to death and I now have an awesome Sheriff outfit and matching hat . I head over to the bar to get a beer only to be met by the Sheriff's son who says that his dad left something for me if I deactivate the bomb.

I end up talking with Leo Stahl who tells me to meet him in the water tower, so I can score some drugs to help me concentrate while defusing the bomb. While looking for the water tower I stumble across the armory which I now have access to with the Sheriff's key chain. So I figure I'll go in and raid it for weapons and ammo.... ugh.......Big Mistake!

I open the door only to be met by a very protective and very hostile robot. I have a go at trying to take the robot down only to realize that I am no match for him.. not even close. Once I die I'm reloaded back to the point where I walked in the armory door. Crap, time to leave the armory before I get my *** handed to me again. I quickly exit to find that now the entire town wants me dead and the robot is still chasing me. Apparently they don't take kindly to their armory being broken in to.

After dying a few times at the hands of the Megaton citizens I realize that my only chance is to try and take out the Robot in the Armory behind closed doors, so that none of the citizens no whats up. It took about 10-15 tries but I finally manage to take the robot down after jumping around the armory after him with my police baton barely hanging on to life. With the robot gone I get to raid the armory... which was awesome. I think I'll be good on fire power for a while.

After all of that I finally disarmed the bomb and received my own apartment in Megaton and 100 caps. Now if only I could get that Mortorairy guy to tell me where my dad went I could get on with things. I tried talking to him a few times, but now he wants 300 caps for the info. What a jerk.

Btw, does anyone know how to just pick up ammo instead of picking up the same weapon? Right now I have like 4 chinese rifles, 3 pistols, and a few shotguns. I'd much rather just take the ammo and only have one of each weapon.

Uh each gun has it's own ammo...You should see the gun plus the ammo for the gun in the inventory of the person you are taking it from..So you should just grab the ammo and leave what you don't want.

this game is sucking up my life time i didnt realize i was playin it already for 3 hours in a row damn i havent felt like so into a charactor in a while since probably the 1st halo i still dont understand whats happening in the story tho.

the elementry is sick i dont get whats the point of it tho i got all these keys but i dont know where the rooms are for them are they helpful?? also i went to some new city i dont understand so for the whole story am i tryin to find dad or what?

Btw, does anyone know how to just pick up ammo instead of picking up the same weapon? Right now I have like 4 chinese rifles, 3 pistols, and a few shotguns. I'd much rather just take the ammo and only have one of each weapon.

KEEP all the extra weapons and outfits. You can repair weapons and clothing using the extra weapons and outfits depending on your repair skill. I guess it's like you scavenge the old weapons for parts. That's how I drop the weight I'm carrying. I just start repairing gear.

Finally found Dogmeat. I sure hope he can take some punishment because it's actually pretty nice to have a companion in the wasteland now. Sort of "I Am Legend'ish". I'd hate to lose him.

****! I just went through all this **** and because I stole something I have a whole bunch of people after me. Wish I could just pay a fine or something. Instead i have to go back like 30 minutes and start over.
