New Perk Video: C4

This week we're introducing a new type of perk. Previously showcased perks focused around Special Abilities such as Increased Bullet Penetration with Deep Impact, Increased Rate of Fire with Double Tap, or Increased Reload Times with Slight of Hand. There is another category of perks that focuses less on these Special Abilities and more on Special Weapons.

Special Weapons include things such as C4, RPGs, extra grenades, etc. The first Special Weapons perk we're going to showcase is C4. C4 doesn't need a ton of explanation - it's a perfect perk for objective game types such as Search and Destroy where you can set traps for your enemy, and for faster paced games like Free For All (Deathmatch) where you can lead your target towards you and blow them up with well placed C4.

To show off the perk in-game, we decided to load up a Free For All (Deathmatch) and Team Deathmatch game on the Playstation 3 and just blow the hell out of the level. Keep in mind, the actual perk only gives you 2 C4 per spawn, so you have to choose your usage of them wisely. C4 is great for setting traps, especially since vehicles are fully destructible in multiplayer. As you can see in the first part of the video, we planted some C4 on a car, lured the enemy up to it to take cover and sent them flying. The rest of the video is a montage of death showcasing the many ways to take out enemies using C4. We go from planting it on the run, to planning an attack, to catching our enemies off guard by throwing C4 over the wall in the direction they’re heading. Watch out for the little blooper reel at the end that I like to call, "When C4 Collides."

Multiplayer Beta Details

As you might already know, we've been pretty busy as of late working on the upcoming BETA. Thankfully we're now almost ready to roll, and we've just launched an all new robust section of the site that contains everything you want to know about the upcoming Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Xbox 360 Multiplayer Public Beta!

Check out the new "BETA" section now to learn about the sampling of Weapons, Attachments, Classes, Perks, Game Modes and Maps that will be featured in the BETA . We've also included helpful FAQs on some new features in Multiplayer, as well as Networking and Voice functionality.

This is also where you will get an opportunity to join the COD4:MW MP BETA...and that opportunity will come sooner than you think.

Don't worry, we'll give you plenty of warning. Look for an update here in BETA headquarters. We'll also throw an announcement into SITREP and add a countdown clock on our homepage.

New Perk Video: Dead Silence

With the Dead Silence perk, you'll make less noise when you move, which means you'll be able to easily sneak up on unsuspecting enemies for a swift knife melee. Dead Silence is great for stealthy style players who want to flank around or sneak in behind their enemies undetected. For the true, ghost player, Dead Silence combined with a customized weapon load out with a suppressor and UAV Jammer, allows for some serious stealth action. This perk is useful in just about every situation and game type, because getting the jump on the enemy always works out in your favor.

Modern Warfare offers far more fun toys than stodgy old World War II. Bigger guns, bigger explosions, and a far deeper multiplayer were just a few of the perks earned by switching settings.

Four hours, three fire alarms, and many deaths later, the four of us exited Infinity Ward in agreement: Call of Duty 4 kicks some serious ****ing ***.

Same here. I was reading about the beta and I already know what my three perks will be.

C4 (Explosive)
Sleight of Hand (Faster Reloading)
Deep Impact (Shoot through walls, ect.)
